Butter Valley Disc Golf 29.12.2020

Now that school has started, and some after school sports are moving forward, I’m running short on golf cart attendants. That involves cleaning and sanitizing each cart after each round, fueling if needed, and either staging in place for another round, or parking them inside. I can use someone as early as 11:00 for a few hours weekdays. The school kids have weekends, and after school to close on weekdays pretty much covered, although tomorrow I’m coming up short. Let me know if you would like to help.

**edited** Butter Valley Golf Course and Disc Golf is currently open, operating under the directives coming from Pa. Governor Wolf’s Office for all Pa. golf courses. Following are the major points to consider when planning your round: 1. There is to be no direct contact between customers and staff members. That means exact cash only, placed into a drop box. You can also pre-pay online, or pay onsite through your smart phone.... 2. There can be no congregating of larger groups either before or after the round. 3. Playing groups must be limited to four or fewer players. 4. Limit the number of tee times per hour. Disc golfers should plan on walking the disc course. IF, when you arrive, WE are certain we will have sufficient carts for all ball golfers, carts could be released for disc golfers. We are still in a learning curve with these new policies and procedures. The Covid-19 crisis has created a NOT BUSINESS AS USUAL scenario. If walking Butter Valley Disc Golf is not an option for you, you may want to delay your visit here till after this crisis has abated, and we can get back to a more normal business model.

This is a long message, but it is important all golfers read through its entirety. First and Foremost...if you or someone in your household has been exposed, PLEASE visit us another time. Gatherings before, during, or after your round are not permitted. Please do NOT come with more than 4 people in your group to practice good social distancing. ... Cost to play is $7. It is WALKING ONLY. Please bring EXACT cash to be dropped through the mail slot in the Pro Shop door. Staff interacting with customers will be wearing masks. Please use a mask when entering the building. Bathrooms will be accessible. They will be cleaned periodically throughout the day. Hand sanitizers will be available for your use. On course port-a-pots will NOT be available. (We also have plenty of trees). Proshop and restaurant will be closed. Some bottled beverages (including alcohol) will be available, along with prepackaged snacks. Beer $3 - $4 Water $1 Gatorade $2 Soda $2 Snacks $1 Again...we will need EXACT cash. Any violation of the rules set forth by Butter Valley, or CDC protocols, jeopardizes not only your safety, but the safety of everyone with whom you come into contact. Flagrant offenders will be asked to leave the premises immediately. We do NOT want to be forced to close again. Thank you for your understanding.

I have written two letters to Governor Wolfe’s office regarding disc golf. I have yet to receive a response on either. Having both disc and ball golf here does put his office between a rock and a hard place. If the answer is No, then all public park courses would have to close likewise. If the answer is Yes, then there is no rational reason to keep ball golf closed. I have to assume the non-response to my letters is intentional. I’d do the same thing. I would like to know which disc courses remain open for play, and which ones are fully closed. Pa. courses only. Just post in the comments below, with Open or Closed. Thanks.

Governor Wolf’s stay at home directive of March 19 mandates all non-essential businesses to close. At the same time, he encouraged people to get out and exercise. Many parks remain open for that purpose. I’m curious how many of you are continuing to play disc golf on those public park courses...or have those courses been closed too?
