Sakura Budokan

The Sakura Hanami (Cherry Blossom Viewing) at our Kokusai Nippon Budo Kai arrived in conjunction with the opening of our first Aiki classes in over a year. The Sakura brings with its blooming hope, determination, patience, perseverance and encouragement. Today is new beginning for the 2021 Year and a renewed continuation of our Martial arts classes. The dojo is now closed until January 4th, 2021 by order of the Governor’s office of PA. All training at gyms in PA are prohibited unless training is conducted o...utside. We were one of the first to comply in March to protect the members and families we serve. We were never able to fully reopen our empty hand training because we deemed it irresponsible behavior during this pandemic. None of our members were infected and we are proud to have practiced REAL LIFE PROTECTION measures that many preach but have proven otherwise by their actions! We will remember that irresponsible decision made for money over lives. Yes...we are frustrated and hurt by the pandemic. We have lost and sacrificed much to comply with guidelines and expectations. We have lost money, likely lost members who will never feel safe touching others again and had to find alternatives to our passion. But THAT IS the definition of sacrifice! We sacrifice and serve to the mission of providing a better place for our friends, family and neighbors to survive. So...I want all of our students to know that in this time of self imposed isolation you are giving the greatest gift of the holiday. Your Christmas gift to your loved ones and your nation is a lottery ticket paid by you for their longer and healthier life. It is a gift that must be paid for by your discipline and sacrifice. Self sacrifice is a greater gift than many have ever been willing to give. Many dream of being able to do an honorable thing or make a historic sacrifice in their life. This is your chance. Give another year of life to someone else.

Good news! Today we were informed that we may resume our classes beginning June 19, 2020. That’s three months from the day we suspended our class in March. It’s time to knock off the rust and get back to training. Our first day back will be Saturday, June 20. Class will be held for Iaido at 10:00 AM and Jodo at 11:30 AM.... Announcements for other classes and start times will be coming soon!

Due to PA Governor’s Orders For All Non-Essential businesses Sakura Budokan will remain CLOSED for the month of April 2020. We miss our friends and training partners but we love them and wish to protect each and every one. We will be together again soon but in the meantime we can practice what we preach...Patience!... Remain Safe !

In accordance with local, State and Federal recommendations: Beginning Monday, March 16, Sakura Budokan will suspend all classes until April 2020 . Classes will resume based on the results of data from the CDC and WHO. Please stay home...remain healthy... care for each other as much as we care about you all.

The most important training of the year is the one that Yudansha attend each Spring at KNBK Hombu Dojo. This has become the most anticipated annual training event that our senior members look forward to in order to advance their own understanding of the MJER. Register early!
