The Bywood community welcomed the Mayor and Township council for their discussion regarding the proposed community center. The Bywood Community Association is happy to support the building of the center. We look forward to participating in ongoing conversations with the administration regarding how this center with serve the residents of Bywood and all of Upper Darby.

My Friends, Last month, on Thursday, February 18, 2021, the Bywood Community Association, Inc. hosted the Crozier Health System's Corona Virus vaccination at the Prayer Chapel. What was thought to be an opportunity to provide vaccines for 100-125 people actually served 270 people who came from the neighborhood and the greater metro Philly area. With the assistance of the Upper Darby Police Department, cars lined up for blocks as groups of 15 people, socially-distanced, and ...patiently waited for essential medical staff from the Delaware County Memorial Hospital worked, untiringly, until the inventory of the Pfizer vaccine was exhausted. It's hard for me to describe the pulsating feelings I had while watching people, feeling the relief from the scourge of a life-threatening pandemic, waiting their turn at escaping this dreadful virus spreading across our nation and the world. The joy, the relief, the general sense of hope on the faces of people is something I will NEVER FORGET. Yesterday, people returned for their second Pfizer shot with that same mix of emotions and expressions of gratitude, and again, I experienced the same deep sense of fulfillment that is hard to put to words. Finally, a service to the community that is tangible, efficacious, and responded to with incredible gratitude and genuine relief. Lives may have been saved! Families secured! Futures redeemed. Thank you President Matt Shelak and the medical staff of Delaware County Memorial Hospital for your commitment to the residents of Bywood Community Association. Thank you Senator Tim Kearney and Dr. Monica Taylor for your continued support of Upper Darby residents. Thank you Mayor Keefer, Chief Bernhardt and the Upper Darby Police Department for adding to the security, harmony, and efficient execution of safeguarding citizens on that heavy snow day. Thank you Prayer Chapel and BCA Ambassadors for volunteering to direct pedestrian traffic throughout the Church's facilities to insure everyone's comfort and convenience. To my surprise, and TOTALLY UNSOLICITED, a box used by parishioners to drop off donations was used by people, standing in line, to make donations in the name of Prayer Chapel and Bywood Community Association, Inc. I am pleased to announce that 100% of the donation, in excess of $2500, was given, DIRECTLY, to Bywood Community Association for future community engagement projects. All I can hope for is that the Bywood Community Association continues to find ways to serve the people who live, work, worship, and play in Upper Darby's Bywood neighborhood in more meaningful and purposeful ways. Let's see what's next in our future! Pastor Nate
