Could this be Your Kin? The Shohola Railroad and Historical Society has fallen heir to numerous old photos. Many are unlabeled, but some have the following family names: May, Hess, Case, Rizzo, Hinkle, Daumann, Depuy, Brandt, Hipsman, Wood, Steinke, and Drake among others. Come have a look at these pictures of people from days gone by, along with other treasures being brought to the meeting by SRHS members. The public is cordially invited to view local artifacts and join the hunt to uncover the mysteries of these nameless individuals at 7 p.m. on Dec 2 at the Shohola Twp. Bldg. 159 Twin Lakes Rd. Shohola. Stay for refreshments after the presentations. Meeting to follow.

Myths, Legends, and Truths Aug. 5th at 7 p.m. at the Shohola Twp. Bldg., 159 Twin Lakes Rd., Shohola, Danny Younger, a Research Historian from the Stoudsburg area, will revisit with us the Civil War Train Wreck happenings of July 15, 1884. Two trains running in opposite directions on the same track, tragically met at a blind curve known as King and Fuller's Cut between Lackawaxen and Shohola, resulting in the deaths of 48 Confederate prisoners on their way to a prison camp in... Elmira, NY, along with 17 of their Union guards. Younger's investigative findings are to be published as part of a book on area history. You may think you know the whole story, but recent research has revealed some surprising discoveries. Come join us for a spellbinding presentation and refreshments at the Shohola Railroad and Historical Society meeting the first Wednesday of August. See more
