There is no activity in the life of a believer which does not require a prayerful attitude. This prayerful dependence on and an expectation that God is at work will work according to His purposes and leading, not ours. In ourselves, we can do nothing apart from Him. Being a follower of Christ is never a matter of living by who and what we are (our insight, abilities, background, experience, training, giftedness, etc.). Rather it is a matter of living out our faith and dependence on Jesus Christ. Live today in prayerful dependence on the One who is your source of everything.

This week marks a special time for the church as we remember, celebrate, and experience again the joy of Christ's resurrection - this is Holy Week! As we conclude this Lent season, don't let the truths and disciplines of prayer and fasting disappear from your life. A fast to God is not about looking on the outside like we're fasting, but about being transformed on the inside. That transformation will show itself over time as the fasting brings its spiritual fruit. May your character be transformed to be more like our Father in heaven.

One of the great promises of Scripture is that God will be with us. He will be with us in the good times and He will be with us in the tough times. He has said that He will never leave us. Suffering is always easier when you are not suffering alone. James 1:4 says, Perseverance must finish its work so that you can be mature and complete not lacking anything. Scripture is full of story after story of how God has used suffering in the lives of His people to bring about His purposes. When we understand that there is a purpose to the difficulties that we go through, then they become endurable.
