Gratianus Publications, Canon Law Books, former students, and friends and other lawyers and canonists are today celebrating the life and very sadly mourning the death of Dr. Ernest Caparros. He was both a civil and canon lawyer who taught and published some of the best academic works in both systems of law. Other obituaries will give more information on this wonderful, faith-filled, gentle man. Today we are bereft at his passing. I received his Christmas card to me on the day that he died, and I will treasure it always. Tish Dugan
Today’s keynote address was delivered by Rev. Pat Lagges from Chicago. He developed ten points on Finding Equitable Solutions to Ministerial Issues. He refers to canonical goofiness, acts not good, but not a delict either. Fairness must be found for the priest as well as the people to whom he ministers, the People of God. Don’t miss this when The Proceedings are published.
Tonight the CLSA gave its renowned Role of Law Award to Permanent Deacon Dr. Jerry Jorgensen. Dr. Jorgensen, a Canonist and Doctor of Psychology from the Diocese of Dubuque, Iowa, is the first deacon to receive this award. Congratulations, Jerry!
The Very Rev. Charles Coleman Thompson of Indianapolis, gave today's keynote address at the annual CLSA Conference on Canon Law and Equity. And later, "Our sacraments are our greatest weapon against evil." The entire talk will be available in The Proceedings of the CLSA - Phoenix.
