It's not always about putting out fires !!!! Here the fire dept is working with the group that oversee the pickle ball courts at Canonsburg Town Park getting them ready for summer use.

The Canonsburg Volunteer Fire Department is always looking to add to its membership. We currently have 28 active members but can always use more help. If you are 18 years of age and live within 4 miles of the Boro of Canonsburg you could be considered for membership. We meet every Monday at 7 pm for training or work details and those are open to interested individuals to see what we are about. The exception is the first Monday of the month and that is our monthly busine...ss meeting which starts at 8 pm. There is a process for membership which includes an application, back ground check, agility testing and passing of a company paid physical once application is accepted. There is then an 18 month probation period where members are expected to enroll and take Essentials of Firefighting Class that is also paid for by the fire department. Followed by hopeful taking FF 1 Pro Board Certification. We also offer a variety of benefits that will be explained to an individual during the application process. You will become a member of a brotherhood and sisterhood that has long been the staple of many communities over the years along with giving back to your community to folks when they maybe experiencing the worst day of their life. Please be careful using these. Get the good heavy duty ones and not the cheap 99 cent ones. Even then u need to be careful not to over load !!!!! We have had several fires here in Canonsburg because of sub standard and overloaded ones !!!
