Meghan Buchle, a student in Rosa Eberly's "Foundations of Civic and Community Engagement" class this semester, had her "Advocacy about a Public Problem" paper accepted for publication in the Harrisburg Patriot-News opinion page on pennlive.com . https://www.pennlive.com//how-cyber-schools-are-failing-pa Meghan is a senior studying Education and Public Policy with minors in English and Political Science. She was selected in the spring to be one of six students from colleges across Pennsylvania to serve as a Legislative Fellow in the PA House of Representatives in Harrisburg. There, she worked with the Education Committee on policy issues regarding cyber schools and higher education. Originally from Palmyra, PA, Meghan is a member of the Blue Band, volunteers with THON, and previously served on the executive board of Women in Politics.
GRADS@WORK Chester the Cat made an uncommon public appearance to join Shaochun Li’s MA Program of Study review meeting. Committee members Andy High and Brian Manata, along with committee chair and advisor Denise Solomon, approved Ms. Li’s plan to pursue her study of convergence and divergence in the experiences of romantic partners during the COVID-19 pandemic. Congratulations, Shaochun!
CAS graduate student Mike Delayo successfully defended his proposal for a master's thesis tentatively titled 'I Definitely Want to Thank My Psychiatrist': Digital Mental Health Disclosures in Professional Sports." Mr. Delayo's thesis committee members are Michele Kennerly and Abe Khan, and Rosa Eberly serves as advisor and committee chair. Congratulations, Mike!
The Department of Communication Arts and Sciences gathered by zoom on Friday, December 4th to hear a colloquium presentation by Catherine Knight Steele. CELEBRATIONS! The department extends hearty congratulations to Michele Kennerly and Kirt Wilson who have been recognized by prestigious awards from the National Communication Association. Professor Kennerly’s honor marks the second year in a row a faculty member in our department has received the Karl Wallace Memorial award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to rhetorical studies by a scholar within 10 years of earning their PhD. Professor Wilson is the recipient of ...the Douglas W. Ehninger Distinguished Scholar award to honor his career contributions to rhetorical theory and criticism.
