Casbohm Maple and Honey 15.05.2021

Seems we have been busy the last few days! Thanks to the friends and family that have stopped by to help as we prep for the Maple Taste and Tour. The maple sap has been coming in almost faster than we can boil it! In between making lots of nice Amber Rich maple syrup we made a batch of Golden Delicate syrup also. At temps of 70 degrees I am not sure we can call this FIRE&ICE syrup? :) But it will excellent drizzled on fluffy Belgian waffles, or you morning oatmeal! Looking forward to seeing you this weekend! Regards, Chris and Cheryl

Forgot to mention we will have local honey from Bastow farms and Mooney farms at the maple event too! Both producers have bees here in Erie county. Our honey bees are in rebuild mode and hope to bee making honey this spring! See you at the Maple Taste and Tour. We will have the sign in boards too! Come find your name from previous visits! Regards, Chris and Cheryl

Maple and Honey Lovers, We are only days away from the Maple Taste and Tour weekend 10-4 each day Sat and Sunday March 13th and 14th. What that means here is that we are scurrying to get things ready. There will be maple sap to boil today thru Thursday as the temps are back up. Maple sugars to be made for the delicious whip. I am going to try to make some maple cream also, a big hit with our Grandson Devin Logan! Maple Cotton candy will be made in the Maple Shop both days of... the event too. We are prepping the Shop for the event and hope to have some nice improvements to make it comfortable if there is a chill in the air this weekend! Oh almost forgot! We will have our world famous Chocolate dipped Maple Sugar candies also for the event too. Those are the Maple coated peanuts shown below. We are having a mini tractor show also. Some are restored, some in there work clothes. All ready to go. Get some pictures with the kids. Regards, Chris, Cheryl and Family See more

Maple and Honey folks, Our season is underway in typical fits and starts. We have made almost 40 gallons of Amber Rich syrup. Great Grandson Rhett helped make Maple Peanut Butter yesterday. Many more moves to make to be ready for the 18 Annual Maple Taste and Tour coming up March 13th and 14th. We will do the best we can to fill all our visitor expectations. The sugarhouse will be open and fully functional. We can chat about making syrup or bees too. Our Kitchen will be a pas...s through area this year and maple products including Maple Cotton Candy will be available in the new Maple Shop just a few steps from the sugarhouse. We are still under construction on the shop area. Our first year trying the T&T with social distancing and masks in place. We may have individual samples or samples of our products on request. The next few days we will be making Maple Candy, Maple sugar and Maple Cream. Hope to see you there. Several new sugarhouses on the tour this year too plan to stop and see them. I believe we are going to have a supply of local Honey available too! Regards, Chris and Cheryl See more

I am pleased that our Great Grandsons Rhett and Cooper have shown a interest in maple syrup too. They tapped there own trees in the back yard today. Sap was running and they had there first taste of fresh sap this year. Drilling holes, pounding in spiles, hanging buckets, They loved it! This also means we will have a traditional sugarbush for folks to check buckets during the Taste and Tour event also! Over the last two days I drilled about 1000 holes in maple trees. Our neighborhood trees are now tapped and sap waits to be gathered in the morning. We should be boiling by 3:00 if things go well.
