To register for either of the October 24th Saw Mill Run Stream Cleanup event "shifts" - 9:00am or 10:30am - please email lisa@wospgh dot org and indicate your preference. Gonna grab some garbage! Toss some trash! Liquidate some litter!

The first time my husband and I ever participated in a Saw Mill Run Stream Cleanup event we pulled a staggering amount of garbage out, as did all the other volunteers. We were both horrified at how much trash was in just the little Castle Shannon stretch of Saw Mill Run. Every time since then we've pulled less and less garbage out, which is fantastic! It shows that our efforts are paying off. We've remediated pollution in and around Castle Shannon's coolest natural asset, we...'ve decreased the number and severity of flooding events along the stream, and we've made some little beasties like native birds, bugs, and fishes much happier. Now doesn't that sound like a great way to spend a Saturday morning? Please consider joining us on Saturday, October 24 on James St. for this year's Fall Saw Mill Run Stream Cleanup event. You'll be glad you did!
