The Children's Free Little Library at Cedar Beach Park

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! I just wanted to share that little Princess Anna and I have added some books to the library. Please be mindful that the park is still closed off, if you do opt to pick out a book. Please follow the park’s protocol during this unprecedented time. We hope you continue to stay safe and happy reading!

Good morning and happy Monday! I just wanted to share that we were able to remove the hive from the library over the weekend and added some more books! If you choose to donate books to or go pick out a book from the library, please be mindful that the park is still roped off due to being closed. Hope you all continue to be safe and happy reading!

Good morning everyone! Hope you are all having an enjoyable and safe summer! I just wanted to share that though the park has continued to remain closed, we have sporadically been placing books in the library to be taken and enjoyed at home. Unfortunately, I was there this morning to put in some more books in and noticed what appeared to be a small wasp hive in the right front corner inside the library. We plan to spray and remove the hive this weekend. PLEASE do not use the library until I update here that it is safe. There were many wasps inside the library and they were quick to come out and defend their territory. This will be taken care of right away. Thank you for understanding. Be safe and happy reading!

Hello everyone! Happy Monday! The library is officially one year old today!! Time sure does go by fast. It’s been an incredible year of book donations and ongoing community effort to keep the library thriving and well. Thank you everyone who has visited, checked on, and donated books to the library. You have all been such an intricate part of keeping the library standing and its inventory abundant! Though we’ve had some bumps along the way this year, we are hopeful and confident that the library will continue to stand strong and be a source of literacy support for so many children and families. Hello everyone! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy at home during this very challenging time. As many of you may or may not know, Allentown parks are closed until further notice. Because of this, and for safety, we will not be filling up the library with books until they reopen. Many of you, including us, have younger ones at home that are probably itching for different activities. Now more than ever is the time for sharing books and jumping in to stories! Reading ha...s gotten us through many of the recent days! With that said, we are considering the idea of sharing different books through a virtual story time. This may be live or this may just be uploaded videos. I will share updates here and, if we opt to do this, they will be uploaded on this page and can be shared with your little ones! Would this be something of interest for anyone? In the mean time, happy reading everyone and stay safe!

Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday! My little helper and I were able to get down to Cedar Beach today and fill up the library! Thank you to everyone who has continued to donate books and help care for the library! Again, it’s so wonderful to see the community supporting the library’s inventory of donated children’s books. One book can make such an impact on a little one’s mind, language, and imagination! As we move into the warmer seasons, books will be moving in and out of the library quickly and finding their way to new homes. So, please consider the library if you have books to donate! Hello everyone! Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season! My little helper and I had the opportunity to bring books to the library earlier today. Once again, we were so happy to find a bunch of books inside! It brings us so much joy to see the library getting love and care, and being filled with books ongoing. It truly is a community effort to sustain the library and because of your care and contributions, it is thriving! Thank you everyone! I just wanted to share that my little helper and I were able to make it down to the library today and fill it up. We were so incredibly excited to find that there were books in the library!! Hello everyone! Hope you all have had a wonderful weekend. I am happy to share that a new door has been secured on the library! It took a little longer than expected due to schedule restrictions and the need for additional materials. Oh and we may have misjudged the measurements of the new door by an inch or two and needed to make some adjustments Despite that, the library finally has a door again and is ready for more donations! I filled it up and have received some more donations. Thank you for all for your patience and understanding! Happy reading!

We finally have a new door built and adding the finishing touches today. We hope to have it up and secured on the library this Sunday. I will update again once it is complete! Due to a tight schedule and other life events, it has been taking some time to build another door and obtain the necessary materials. I will update once it is complete and secured on the library.
