From the desk of Superintendent, Hervey P Hann; Last night, the board decided to stay with face-to-face instruction. However, this morning we have our first positive case of Covid in the school. Therefore, we will be following our plan by providing online instruction through the Thanksgiving break. We have started our contract tracing. The school nurse will contact anyone who would be considered a contact. At the present time, we feel confident, no students will be identified... as a contact. The individual who tested positive was an adult and had very limited contact with students. With that being said, we would still remind all parents to continue to be vigil with your children during the time we are online. We would also remind parents to keep the school nurse informed of any changes that may occur with your family. I thank the parents for keeping the nurse informed throughout the year thus, far and would ask that you continue helping while we are using an online curriculum. We will evaluate where we are over the next few weeks and make a decision regarding our next move at the Dec.1st board meeting. I felt much like a ping-pong ball this morning until speaking with a friend, he said, a wise man changes his mind often, but a fool never does. Again, I ask you to help us receive the information we need to make the best-informed decisions we can by calling the school nurse with an issue that may concern Covid. Remember lunches and breakfasts are available during online instruction. Please visit the website for additional information. Educationally Hervey P Hann

This is a reminder that tomorrow November 11th is an ACT80 day for teachers, no school for students. There will be an updated Skylert message sent out tomorrow stating whether we will be online beginning November 12th or face to face in the building.

As many of you may know, my peers & I run a preschool program through Fulton County Votech. We are accepting 3-5 year olds for the weeks of 2/2/2021-5/20/2021.... With all of the craziness that has been happening within the last few months, we still want to make sure that your child gets the early education that they deserve. Our program has been preparing for weeks for an online preschool program with lessons & fun activities like crafts, kid friendly recipes, making sensory bottles, and so much more that teach learning fundamentals and proper development. As your child’s teachers, we are sad to not see them in person. However, we have mapped out every possible scenario & have planned accordingly. We have made sure that preschool will be ran safely & will create an enjoyable experience from home. If you plan to enroll your child, please message me privately & I can give you the proper information. On behalf of Early Childhood Education, we hope you consider joining us this spring and we look forward to see all of you soon! P.S. if you are aware of someone who may also be interested in this program, please share this with them! Running our program online is not ideal but we would love to have your support, as all of us have worked really hard to make this the best experience we possibly can. Please share to reach more people, thank you so much!

From the desk of Hervey P Hann: November 5, 2020 To provide some time for you to plan, I want to share with you that on November 10th at the board meeting, I will be recommending to the board that we go online starting Nov. 12th through Dec. 1st. The reasons for this recommendation are as follows: ... 1. The county is presently rated as Substantial and will be rated as Substantial again this week. The Dept. of Education and the Dept. of Health has guidelines that indicate schools should be online if the county is rated as Substantial. 2. In a teleconference with PDE and DOH, they indicated that the DOH has the authority to shut us down if we choose to continue with face to face. If DOH should decide to do so, they would also decide when we can open again. 3. If we choose to go online, we then have the power to decide when we open for Hybrid or face to face again. I would rather we control our own Destiny. 4. This time online will give us the rest of November to see if Covid cases drop. We can then plan after Thanksgiving regarding the method of educational delivery for the students. 5. The other two county school districts have already approved the move at their board meetings this week. 6. Should the rating for the county drop to moderate or low at the end of November, we will move back to face to face or a Hybrid model that uses the A and B groupings for the students. 7. I am a firm believer that face to face delivery of education is the best method for many of the students. Therefore, I will recommend going back to having students in school in some form or the other as soon as appropriate. Stay safe and we will try to keep you informed as we move through this situation.
