As of yesterday the Department of Health essentially shut down all dentistry in the state by creating guidelines that make it illegal for dentists to work. This is a good effort but the statement did not consult dentists and now encompasses emergency work. I believe they are trying to save lives and that is good. But now we can not even see you to look at you. Our dentists are trying to alter the legislation to be safe and still see you for emergency treatment. For now you may have to seek emergency care in an ER or another state after you consult with your dentist. This is obviously counterproductive. For the next few days, brush and floss well and I am here for any video conferencing and phone consults. Coronavirus Update: Because we love this community, it's time to do our part. As of yesterday, we have closed our office for 2 weeks to be leaders in this fight. Dr. Jeanmenne, of course, will make himself available for true dental emergencies of current patients in an effort to reduce burden on the ER. This strategy will help conserve critical supplies (like these sweet uniforms) for our hospital, and reduce the rapid spread of the virus. The PA government, the ADA an...d CDC agree with this strategy. We encourage other businesses and individuals to do their part also. Our hospital and community needs your support. We will definitely be able to see all of your appointments later as we have already enacted the construction of a new dental operatory to enable quick access to your future appointments. If you have a normal appointment, we have you on our list and we will be anxious to get you back in so we can pay the bills too! We will be calling you shortly. Thank you for staying socially distant and doing ou part! Please get sleep, eat your vitamins, and be a hermit and germaphobe. Stay positive and as a community we can beat this! Coronavirus update for our dental practice: Dear patients and community, During the last week we have been in the process of completely revamping our care procedures to at or beyond the new coronavirus CDC guidelines. On Monday 3/16 we will be open, but we have no patients scheduled on that day. We have reserved tomorrow to train our excellent staff and to create better operating procedures to ensure everyone's safety. ... We are devoting all of tomorrow to develop true safety plans for our patients so we can do our part to keep this amazing community safe. You are free to call us about your appointments, and we will return your call. Our staff will be on conference calls all day training and researching. We will be nothing short of excellent when it comes to maintaining the best of standards. Tuesday we do have patients scheduled and we will contact every scheduled patient about their appointment when we can be sure it is appropriate to see them. If we do get to see you as a patient, please don't be surprised of our new look. We will be in surgical gowns, hair nets, facemasks and other protective equipment. We will also have you wait in your car so you do not need to be in the waiting room. There will be other things like a mouth rinse and disposable safety glasses for your safety. Our chairs will now have even more barriers so that you will not be even touching the chair surface. Patients will be kept isolated and check out at their chair. I, Dr. Jeanmenne, will be reviewing the changing situation and guidelines to see what type of patients should be seen during these tough times. I want you to know you are not just patients but people I care about, and so our safety as a community is the ultimate goal. We have already ordered over $5000 in advanced protection uniforms, gowns, barriers, breathers, face shields and whatnot to help our patients stay safe. As you know, our dental office has always strived to be the best of the best, and we will rise up to this challenge also. More tomorrow will be announced after emergency meetings and our protocols and training are enhanced. Please do your part to keep socially distant and help slow the imminent burden on our hospitals.
