Chartiers-Houston’s season- opener on Friday, Aug. 31 against visiting Clairton will be broadcast on tape-delay on PCN at 9 p.m. on Sept. 1.

The WPIAL Class AA Team Wrestling Tournament final will feature a pair of unbeaten teams, as top-seed Burrell (19-0) faces No. 2 seed Chartiers-Houston (16-0). The match will be held today [Feb. 5] at 4 p.m. at Chartiers Valley High School.

Seven Buccaneers registered pins in the title match: Jake Jones (112), Andrew Vernau (125), Johnny Ellis (140), Michael Innes (152), Jevone Hairston (160), Jeremy Anesetti (189) and Nate Grandelis (285). Dominic Pulcini (130) and Dylan Fleming (145) had pins for Burgettstown.

Silver medalists for Chartiers-Houston were: Richie McGinnis (103), Andrew Vernau (125), Tanner Sutton (135), Garrett Vulcano (152), Joey Congie (215), and Nate Grandelis (285). Vulcano is a two-time runner-up. Fourth-place finishers for the Buccaneers were: Pete Provenzano (112), Ryan Dodd (119), Andrew Lis (130), and Tommy Orenbaun (145).

Chartiers-Houston is No. 2 in the WPIAL Class AA rankings. Four-time defending WPIAL champion Burrell is No. 1. Burgettstown was No. 3

Tanner Sutton and Michael Innes claimed titles for Chartiers-Houston, while Garrett Vulcano placed second.
