Trail running by it's nature is inclusive. We're all humans, simple as that. THEN WHY IS TRAIL RUNNING SO WHITE?? . This is Jesse composing this message, on behalf of all of us here at Chasing Trail. This is a question that I've been grappling with for some time. I've considered writing about it sooner, but I kinda wanted to hear a Black voice speak on it. In that regard, I've been woefully wrong. I should have spoken more publicly about it. WE should have spoken more publicl...y about it. Yes, everyone is welcome at Chasing Trail, and other trail running clubs and races. But that's not enough. We, as a (mostly white) trail running community need to address the lack of diversity in our sport. We have a big job in our society to address long standing systemic racism. It's long overdue. Along with that work, let's work to address the issues in our little subculture. I love running trails and I want everyone to it enjoy too. If you're white and you're offended, good, be offended and learn why. It's a privilege to be offended without fear of imminent physical danger. If you're Black, and you feel like this is not enough, you're right, it's not. It's a process. I'm still learning and working to figure out what's next. Let's work together to address this. I love you all. All of us here at Chasing Trail love you.
