Meet Timlyn Vaughan, artist, photographer, sign consultant, and graphic artist living in West Chester, PA. Tim has worked with digital photography since the early 1990's. As founder and CEO of Elmark Graphics, a local sign and graphics company, photography began as a necessary business tool and progressed into an art. Tim sold Elmark Graphics to passionately pursue his photography. Although not limited to, many of his works reflect a distinct Chester County feel, including la...ndscapes familiar businesses and historic buildings. Many of Tim's prints are available for purchase in the museum shop. https://cchs-museumshop.square.site/shop/home-decor/5 . . . #museum #art #history #photography #artist #contemporaryart #architecture #travel #painting #gallery #arte #exhibition #museo #artwork #culture #artgallery #design #modernart #photooftheday #sculpture #love #museums #photo #travelphotography #ig #nature #bhfyp

It's time for #FunFactFriday !!! Did you know that in the 20th century people used to mail... Babies? Yes, that's correct. Back in the day people would ship their babies and young children via mail services. This was in response to the Post Office’s decision to start shipping large parcels and packages through the mail.... Most cases of this occurring were parents sending their kids to visit their grandparents and it was never more than a few miles. Although there are a few instances where children were shipped across the country. : A staged photograph of a letter carrier with a baby. (via the National Postal Museum)

We were astonished to find a photo of a young boy wielding a rifle outfitted with a bayonet until we recalled that during the Civil War years there were two military academies in West Chester. Col. Theodore Hyatt (1827-1888) moved his Delaware Military Academy to West Chester when the Bolmar Institute’s campus became available to rent (today the Metropolitan Apartments are on this site on East Marshall St). Renamed Pennsylvania Military Academy, the school could accommodate ...150 students ages 12 20. After spending $60,000 to outfit the school it opened on September 4, 1862. Advertized as only second to West Point in military education, Hyatt offered primary, commercial, scientific, collegiate, and military courses. . . . #CivilWar #museum #MuseumFromHome #LocalHistory #LocalStory #History #CivilWarHistory #WarHistory #War #Military #MilitaryAcademy See more
