Citizens Fire Company #1 Tamaqua 24.03.2021

At 19:31 hrs, the Tamaqua Fire Department was alerted to a possible dwelling fire in the northward of the Borough. Within 2 minutes of dispatch, Schuylkill County Communications upgraded the alarm to a working fire. Engine 6512 and Squad 6562 responded, with the Citizens Fire Company having 23 members on scene. Engine 6512 and American Hose 6510 arrived on scene to find a working basement fire and were assisted by the Southward and East End fire companies to limit fire damage and spread. Units were clear of scene by 2100 hrs.

The Citizens Fire Company mourns the loss of a matriarch. On Thursday, January 14th, Jean Hartz passed away. Jean was a long time member and supporter of the Citizens Fire Company, having been very active in the company’s auxiliary. Jean was the widow of long time company Chief, Thomas Hartz Sr, and mother of past Borough Fire Chief Thomas Hartz Jr and current company Chief, Jason Hartz. Jean’s sharp wit will be missed by all who knew her. Our condolences to the Hartz family.
