Oh man, has it been a while. We've been plenty busy with an influx of new climbers during our Friday evenings at the Nook and weekends at Safe Harbor. We just had some climbers out at the Governor Dick Bouldering Competition yesterday, and the weather could not have been better! We'll be posting a date for a meeting concerning how to set up next year's budget sometime after Thanksgiving Break.

What's up everyone! I hope you all had an awesome summer! As we approach the start of the fall semester, there's a couple important things new members should check out. First and foremost, you should download, print out, and sign the waiver found in our "documents" (or "forms" section, one of the two...) so that you can officially climb as a member of the club. This will allow you to participate in any competitions we attend (more on that in a bit) during the fall. Secondly, ...check out our club constitution to get some more details on how we function and what our goals are. We're pretty new to the whole club business, so this semester is going to be a good opportunity to work out kinks in how we plan activities. If we get enough interested members, we might make a group chat or something similar for club planning so the president (or other officers) can make important announcements. Third, everyone should be aware that we have funds allocated to pay for newcomers to attend some college night climbs at the Nook, free of charge. For those who don't know, Spooky Nook Sports in Mannheim has a rad indoor climbing section, and we try to head over there every Friday night for their "college night". We've been discussing the possibility of getting some expert climbers to run some instructional sessions during some of these college nights, so be on the look out for more news regarding that. We also signed up for the Fall Organization Outbreak on Thursday, September 1st from 11-2 on our newly opened quad, so we'll have a table set up with information on the club. Lastly, a big piece of news: we've been invited to compete in PCCS (Philadelphia Collegiate Climbing Series) with a number of other clubs and schools. The competition schedule is as follows: September 24th: Elite Climbing Opener October 22nd: University of Pennsylvania's Comp November 12th: Temple University's Comp January 28th: West Chester's Comp February 18th: Drexel University's Comp April 8th: Elite Closer We will be receiving more information on times and locations as the comp dates get closer. In order to participate, you should be a member of the club (meaning you signed the waiver and signed up on GetInvolved, and have (preferably) spoken with an officer via email, phone, or in person). Each comp will most likely have a small fee ranging from 10 to 25 dollars, though club funding could cover this. You will need your own harness and shoes for competitions. You will also probably have to sign a waiver for whatever venue is hosting the club event. All in all, not too much you have to do to compete. You can check out PCCS's page here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/phillyccs/ I think that's it for now. I'll be seeing you guys around campus and at the Nook, and hopefully we'll see some new faces as the semester starts up! Tyler

Some of our members have been quite busy as the summer kicks off! We were lucky enough to have a UAV out at Safe Harbor the other day and capture some of the fun from the air!
