Common Time Music School 07.01.2021

The Founders Trio - Michael on sax, Sandy on string bass, and Matt on drums playing to a masked and socially distanced crowd at Common Time's director, Julia's house last Saturday night. It was so nice to share live music with a real audience. Thank you to the guys (two of whom teach for Common Time) for making us very happy that night!

Fall is here and music is in the air! Most of our students continued lessons throughout the summer virtually and we had lots of fun. Now that school is back in session we hope that they will use music as an escape from this crazy world we are living in. Though public schools in our area are starting a hybrid program of in person and virtual, the students are stressed and need music as an outlet for their emotions. And so do adults! Let us know if you or somebody close to you needs music lessons - no questions asked... We swear by music. Notice below how relaxed professional Linus Lum looks right before his Zoom recital in June. See? We do have fun!

Well...shower curtains are one way to protect from COVID as this teacher at Michigan State is doing. Whatever works!

If you don't know Nora the Cat then you should - she will make you smile. As a local Philly cat she is much loved and she loves music. If she can learn to play the piano, you can too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmp8xCAnrZQ

Time for school (as we know it) to start and most families start thinking about music lessons. Many schools are not offering music in the Fall. We believe that music is very important - now more than ever! After all, kids are not waiting for the pandemic to end, their lives continue and they are growing physically and mentally. With some trepidation I started teaching my "great" nieces who live in Denver, CO (I'm in the Philly area) 5 and 10 years old. The lessons are going ...well.The attached photo is the younger niece teaching her friend what she had learned at her lesson! I am beginning to realize that young students adapt very quickly because they don't know any different way to learn. And we are all becoming better teachers. I have changed my entire way of thinking and realize that the current young student is really doing great virtually! So, if you were thinking of waiting to start your child on the sax, clarinet, piano, drums, trombone, trumpet, flute, cello, violin, viola, string bass, guitar or any other instrument DON'T! Start them now. Give us a call or email and we will send details of our lessons. Play music! See more
