NEIGHBORS PLEASE SHARE Applications are being accepted once again for the Paycheck Protection Program aimed at helping small businesses impacted by #COVID19!!...! Starting today (Jan. 11th): small businesses that have not received any PPP loans can apply for one through community financial institutions. Starting Wednesday (Jan. 13th): small businesses that already received PPP funding can apply for more through community financial institutions. My office is working with the Father’s Day Rally Committee and community and religious leaders to hold a Gun Buy Back on Saturday, January 23 from 10:00 a.m. to... 2:00 p.m. at two locations: Yesha Ministers, 2301 Snyder Avenue, Philadelphia 19145 Greater Exodus Baptist Church, 704 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, 19130 Individuals will be able to turn in working handguns or semi-automatic firearms only and they will receive a $100 gift certificate to Brown’s ShopRite. This event kicks off a year-long Father’s Day Rally Committee’s 2021 No Gun Campaign focused on removing illegal guns from homes and off the streets. WE HAVE VERY EXCITING NEWS!! Action for Early Learning (AFEL) has been selected among other national organizations to be listed on the Presidential Inaugura...l Committees’ National Day of Service activities to promote AFEL’s virtual Family Read Along Lifting Out Voices Together: Justice for Healthy Communities. AFEL will be honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in partnership with Drexel University Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships, the West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood, and People's Emergency Center (PEC). Virtual activities will take place on Monday, January 18, starting at 10 am to 11 am. Volunteers are not needed, but participants are welcome. Parents, caregivers, educators and children of all ages are encouraged to participate in the legacy of Dr. King’s dream. This year’s theme: Justice for Healthy Communities.
