iMPeRFeCT is just getting back to IG and FB, life dealt us a hard blow recently, we needed to recoup. We lost our dear friend, photographer miguelAngel (behind Renny Molenaar, college days, photo circa 1981). A quiet man with a keen eye for the uncommon in the common, was not on social media at all, he could be unapologetically antisocial but a great conversationalist, if he liked you, an old soul, we will miss him terribly. The next photographs are just some of his work but ...they don’t speak of his range at all, they’re just what we could find around the house. What is iMPeRFeCT? My friend, documentary filmmaker Melissa Skolnick helped me (Rocío) answer this question beautifully with this video I submitted to Leeway Foundation for their Transformation Award. Using video and photo footage she tells the story of iMPeRFeCT and our work, I am eternally grateful for her generosity and skills!!! I could not have done this Melissa!... We miss the gatherings at the gallery, we miss you all!! Let’s all hibernate a little longer, hang tight, wear your masks so we can hug again soon!!! This video brings a smile to my face...

It is with great joy that I (Rocio, half of @imperfectgallery) share the news of being the recipient of one of 11 Transformation Awards from @leewayfound. Just when I thought how emotionally overwhelming 2020 had been, this happened... what a rollercoaster life can be! I am very grateful to this institution that funds Philadelphia women, trans and non conforming gender artists and cultural producers whose work strives for social change. Reason #248 why we love living (and working) in Germantown: We have artist Linette Messina Kielinski as our neighbor. Yesterday, as I rode my bike on Chelten Ave. I found her fixing up a bus stop on Greene St. that the city has forgotten to fix (assisted by Eddie E-Luks). My neighbors are doers and THAT is very inspiring! Linette also created an iconic piece this past Summer as a tribute to Breonna Taylor, that piece Say her name, was selected by Streets Dept as one of ...the best 10 moments in street art in Philly! #knitbombing #streetart #streetartingermantown See more

Well, it took us a minute to recover but... The iMPeRFeCT PRISMS came out to Germantown Ave this weekend!!! A million thanks to all that helped make this possible, starting with @isaiahprice for building the prisms in record time, to all the people that have donated to our campaign, of course to all the artists that threw down with incredible energy, there was live weaving, live painting, live crocheting, drumming, DJs... and to all that joined us to celebrate!!!...
