March is #WomensHistoryMonth. This week we are spotlighting civil rights activist and educator, Angela Davis. Davis was influenced by her segregated upbringing in Birmingham, Alabama and this motivated her to join the Black Panthers. With her powerful messages she created a voice for the voiceless. Today, she is a distinguished professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Davis has authored several books and appears in several documentaries on police brutality and racial equality. Fun Fact: Angela Davis sported an Afro as a sign of black power and rebellion against white America’s beauty standards. Wearing an Afro became a weapon in the fight for racial equality, she also wore the Afro as a public declaration of self-love and solidarity within the black community.

The Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, Inc. is looking to hire a part-time Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for the overall upkeep and maintenance of DAP buildings by performing duties to ensure the buildings are safe and clean during operating hours, basic handy man work and duties in and around the building’s grounds.
