Dentistry for Life 26.03.2021

Have you ever wondered what your dentist sees when they look at your x-rays and say you have an abscess? Here is a series of x-rays, along with a brief explanation, diagnosis, and solution: Photo #1: This tooth has decay along the crown and fractured roots, resulting in an infection (abscess). Photo #2: Diagnosis - cracked root. Photo #3: Solution - remove root and tooth, place a bone graft to rebuild to rebuild the bone, and in 16 weeks the site *should* be ready for an implant to be placed. #lancasterdentist #biohorizons #biohorizonsimplants

To our Friends, Neighbors, and Patients, First and foremost, our team has missed you. Seeing you, talking with you, and taking care of your health gives us a sense of purpose that we look forward to rekindling. Over the last few months we have been following the directives of the Pennsylvania Department of Health and have only been seeing the most severe dental emergencies. On Thursday June 4, the Pennsylvania Department of Health announced that dental practices could reope...n to more patients and begin routine dentistry. This announcement comes with a number of caveats that we are working through. There are also limitations and requirements that we must meet. We are confident that with our new efforts, coupled with our historical commitment to going above and beyond with infection control, our office will be safer than most places you will visit in the community. We are remaining vigilant in protecting our team members and patients. We are spending this upcoming week preparing and training our team. Over the next several weeks we will gradually be returning to a full schedule by prioritizing procedures to treat emergencies and urgencies first. We have quite a back log of patients desperately in need of treatment. Please be patient with us. Know that we are committed to doing things the right way. Please reach out to Dentistry for Life at 717-569-3911 if you have any questions. Our staff will be reaching out to you to reschedule past and upcoming appointments. Best Regards, Dr. Jason T. Herres and Staff.

DENTISTRY FOR LIFE UPDATE Following the Friday May 8th press conference with Dr. Levine (PA Secretary of Health), it was stated that non-emergency dental practice can resume statewide. However, some caveats exist with this statement: No procedures are to be completed that produce/generate an aerosol. 99% of Dentistry generates aerosols. Even a routine exam, when air is used to dry off the teeth, results in the generation of aerosols. There is also guidance from Dr. Levin...e for dental offices to follow CDC and OSHA guidelines. Current OSHA and CDC guidelines, as of May 11, 2020, are still prohibiting non-elective treatment and only emergency treatment be completed at this time. What does all of this mean? Until the Pennsylvania’s Department of Health, CDC and OSHA relax and also coordinate their guidelines, we will continue to operate with servicing the dental emergencies of our patients. We ask for your understanding and we truly look forward to a time when we can resume a normal practice. Dr. Herres and Dr. Votilla are available 24/7 to assist patients that are having a true dental emergency. Please contact our office if you require any emergency service.

Dear Patients and Friends, During this COVID-19 crisis, the well-being of our patients and our team is of primary importance to us. Due to the most recent mandate by Governor Wolf we are required to limit patient care to emergency appointments only beginning today, March 20th for a period of at least two weeks. We are re-evaluating this temporary closure as we continue to get updated information from the Centers for Disease Control and the State Department of Health, and w...e will be reopening as soon as this mandate is lifted. If you are a patient of record and have a concern, please call the office at (717)569-3911. If we are not physically in the office, you may leave a message, and if you are experiencing a dental emergency there will be cell phone numbers provided for Dr. Votilla and Dr. Herres. We will continue to serve you to the best of our ability during these challenging times. When we are able to resume a normal schedule, we will do our best to accommodate everyone. We thank you for your patience and, most of all, for your continued trust and support. Sincerely, Dr. Votilla, Dr. Herres and Staff

COVID-19 UPDATE The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a concern for everyone worldwide. We understand your concerns and know this is a frustrating time for many. Here are some important points that we would like to share with you:... We are open and operating, business as usual. We will remain open unless otherwise instructed by local public health officials. We can assure you that we always follow health and safety regulations and the guidelines of universal precautions set forth by OSHA, the Department of Health, Center for Disease Control, and the ADA to protect ourselves and our patients from ANY disease, including the coronavirus. Our current protocol that we use to clean and disinfect all treatment areas and instruments multiple times a day, far exceeds the instructions the CDC has released regarding the coronavirus. Even with these precautions, we are asking our patients to help each other. If you or someone you have been in contact with has or have had cough, fever or flu like symptoms within the last two weeks, please call us to reschedule your appointment. If you have any questions or concerns please contact our office at (717) 569-3911. Thank you for your cooperation. Stay healthy and be well.
