DC firefighters handled 2 crashes last evening, neither had injuries. As a reminder with the holiday season and traffic, please use caution if you are out shopping. As much as a joy it would be to see the people we serve, we would much rather not do it on the scene of an emergency.
Tonight, 's elves got together in preparations for his yearly visit on Dec. 19th one the fire truck. Gift's were prepared as safely possible for the Big Guys visit. Masks and gloves were worn by all so everyone may enjoy a safe and healthy holiday season.
Reacue 23 was dispatched along with Pennsylvania Ambulance to the area of Lowes on Viewmint Dr for an MVA with reports of confinement and possible fire. Rescue 23 went enroute and due to the possible nature of the call, added Chinchilla Hose Company of South Abington Township Rescue #2 to the call. The rescue crew arrived to find all occupants self-extricated and no fire.
Our annual fund drive is currently underway. All households and businesses in the borough should have received a fund drive letter in the mail at the end of August. Please consider sending in a donation. These funds allow us to maintain and purchase equipment to better serve you, your family and neighbors. You can also donate online at our website https://secure.cpteller.com/terminal/portal/?op=S2V5xO4Kmr1I . If you already sent in your donation, THANK YOU for your support. If you did not receive a fund drive letter, please private message this page.
Tickets are still available! Let us know if you're interested!
DC Firefighters handled a 1 car MVA early this morning. Crews arrived to find the vehicle into a utility pole, with all occupants out of the vehicle and in the hands of EMS. Crews awaited for PPL to assess the cracked pole before returning to service.
The Elves at DCFD have received word from Santa Clause himself that he will still be making his yearly visit to Dickson City Borough on December 19th, and wishes to be escorted by the Dickson City Fire Department. We will begin his tour through the Borough at Noon. Be sure to listen for the sirens on your street. **COVID-19 precautions will be taken by DCFD members, and we ask that you are kind and mindful enough to do the same**
Are you getting ready for the Holidays? You know it's not Christmas until there is Kielbasa on the table! We're trying a new fundraiser this year, we've teamed up with Oprisko Kielbasa of Simpson,PA to bring you old world traditional smoked kielbasa. You're not going to find this in the supermarket. Let us know what you are interested in. Maybe this will become a yearly tradition. You can get some more Christmas Shopping done while we get your kielbasa for you. We'll set up some dates and times when you can pick up your items at the fire station via drive-thru fashion. Maybe if you're lucky enough to know some of us we can deliver it to you. You can even Venmo our "Kielbasa King" Lt. Scott Bidwell your payment for contactless payment @ Scott-Bidwell-7.

We have been advised by Dickson City Borough Residents of phone scams in regards to soliciting phone donations for our department. The Dickson City Fire Department does not currently and has never used an outside source to solicit donations for our annual fundrive. Please do not give donations to any person(s) over the phone
As a reminder with the upcoming "Fall Behind", you should remember to change your batteries in your smoke detectors every 6 months. Using the clock change rule is a great way to help you remember. WORKING SMOKE DETECTORS SAVE LIVES!!
Reminder cards have been sent out to Dickson City Borough residents of our Annual Fund Drive. If you have already donated, we appreciate your support very much. Our department would not be able to operate in the capacity that we do to serve YOU! If you have not donated yet and still would like to, you have two options: 1.) By Mail: send your donation to 1 Eagle Lane, Dickson City, PA 18519.... 2.) Online: Visit our website www.DCFD23.com and use the "Fund Drive Donations" button located at the top of the page. If you aren't sure where or what your donations may be used for, here is some insight on where and how we use them: *The average set of turnout gear that a firefighter wears during an emergency incident is roughly $3,000. This includes our helmets, hoods, coats, pants, structural firefighting gloves, vehicle extrication gloves, boots, and our personal safety harness'; used for aerial ladder operations as well as personal escape harness in the event of an emergency situation during a structure fire. *Equipment: the average cost of something that may seem to be as simple as a nozzle for our firefighting hoses can range from $300 to $900 depending on it's application. These are just two examples, as to where your donations go to and how they are used. If you have any further questions about your donations, you are more than welcome to give the station a call at (570)-383-0923 or stop by at any time to see how your donations assist us in assisting YOU.
There is only one word that can describe the Dickson City Fire Department...FAMILY. "Thank You" doesn't even begin describe how breath taking these photos of the services for FF MacCallum are. Photos by Calvert Media
Early this morning around midnight Rescue 23 was pressed into service for a one car vehicle crash in the 500 block of Main St. The vehicle hit a utility pole and two walls before coming to a stop. Engine 23 was dispatched as part of the first alarm structure box along with Stations 22 & 20 and Engine 33 for a report of a fire on the roof of Jim William's Surplus. The engine arrived and the crew assisted Sq-22 with getting a line to the roof. Crews found a fire on the roof of an elevator shaft and quickly extinguished the fire and checked for extension. E-23 also laid a supply line to Sq-22. Crews were on scene for approximately 45 mins.
A fitting farewell to a son, father, brother and friend. "May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back.... May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand."
