Please vote! The easy choice. Zachary Lewis in West Philadelphia, who’s also an organizer for Philly ADAPT... A lifelong Democrat, disability issues are central to his vote... wants candidates who will protect food stamps, welfare, and affordable housing services that were a lifeline to his family while growing up. But especially with healthcare on the line, Lewis and [Harner] said Biden is an easy choice.... ~ Kathryn Blaker, a 67-year-old from Washington, Pa., where about 61% of voters backed Trump in 2016, said she had been an independent most of her life but has voted Democratic the past 10 years. Blaker, who has cerebral palsy... And said she wants a candidate who will support programs that ensure she can remain living in affordable, accessible housing, and receive community care when she is older without going into a nursing home. ~ Former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign has a proposed plan for expanding disability rights. The Team Biden Disability coalition, which has a Pennsylvania chapter, hosts weekly phone banks, and has also done roundtable events focused on topics like chronic illness, health equity, and gun violence. President Donald Trump’s campaign hasn’t released a plan for addressing disability inequality. Trump’s campaign didn’t respond to a candidate questionnaire by the American Association of People with Disabilities, while Biden’s provided a 32-page response. #CripTheVote #RevUp #Vote2020 https://www.inquirer.com//pennsylvania-2020-election-voter

1 in 6 Pennsylvania voters has a disability. Why don’t candidates campaign for their support? A great article featuring DIA's Executive Director. https://www.inquirer.com//pennsylvania-2020-election-voter

I'm with ADAPT demanding support for independent living. We must change the culture of institutionalization that causes segregation, isolation, and death by COVID. #DisabledNotDisposable #ADAPTandSurvive #LivesWorthyOfLife #ADAPTpplsHearing #COVID #CripTheVote #WhatWeNeed #HandsOffTheACA

The Partnership Statement on Passing 200,000 COVID-19 Deaths: 200,000 people in the United States have died from COVID-19. We grieve for the many people with di...sabilities, older adults, and Disabled Black and People of Color who died needlessly. This profound loss to our country could have been prevented with adequate and timely testing and contact tracing, appropriate policies, procedures, providing PPE to people most at risk, and disaster response. Instead, we've seen a profoundly mismanaged response to COVID-19, that accepts the preventable deaths of older adults and people with disabilities. We must all pull together - both as a disability community and with our allies- to take action and tell our legislators that any more deaths are unacceptable and that they have an obligation to support our communities, their disabled constituents. ACTION: Consider calling your legislators today and telling them about your experiences and views on how COVID-19 disproportionately impacts the disability community. Ask your legislators to support legislation that prioritize people with disabilities in disaster planning, response, and recovery #REAADI the (Real Emergency Access for Aging and Disability Inclusion for Disasters Act)- and the Disaster Relief Medicaid Act #DRMA. (Find out more at www.reaadi.com) Find ALL your elected official contact numbers by entering your address: https://www.commoncause.org/find-your-representative/addr/ Call, tweet, email: Let them know how you feel!

We would like to draw your attention to PA House Bill 2785 which would basically mandate that disability should be taught in Pennsylvania Schools. We urge everyone to educate their legislators about this Bill and if you support this tell them to sign on. Let's do this now and make history !
