Ditch Chicken Charters

The 2019 Fall trout was a success, 1st place for the Chicken! Saturday we had the pleasure of taking Bob and his crew on a productive prefishing day going 12/24 on Chrome along with a handful of Bass. Same story on game day going 12/20 on chrome fishing the west side creek mouths. Huge thanks to Capt. Dan for the incredible action shots and to the Erie Pennsylvania Sport Fishing Association- EPSFA for continuing to host the events we love to compete in every year.

Monster steelhead caught aboard the Ditch Chicken this morning. 17.5 lbs Lake Ontario.

The 5th annual Offshore challenge is a two day steelhead tournament that we put on to take a break from walleye fishing. This year there was tough fishing for both days and tough weather on day two. Going 12/20 on day one was enough to clean up day one . The 7lb 12oz steelie definitely helped and won us big fish. Day two team Outcast won with 4 fish and we came in second with 3. With lingering thunderstorms and waves approaching 8ft no boat got a full day of fishing in but, we got just enough fishing in to dethrone Captain Pete and team Vision Quest after winning the tournament the first 4 years in a row ! Huge thanks to the 5 teams the were brave enough to fish for something other than walleye. Hopefully there will be 10 teams next year ! Note: Booked through Sept. 1st call us there are only a few openings left !

This morning the Ditch Chicken became the Vision Quest 6.5. Capt. Pete Alex of Vision Quest Sport Fishing , who I spent most mornings first mating for had to redeploy his small boat a 27ft Tiara after the VQ mothership a 36ft Tiara experienced some engine trouble the previous week. Since we had 6 guys coming up to fish and didn’t have a boat big enough to accommodate we split them up 3 and 3. Both boats in no hurry to box out got these gentlemen their 18 fish while throwing... back several other walleyes to grow a little more. To make things more interesting we had a big fish competition. Capt. Pete’s crew had a big fish weighing 6lbs 11 ounces and they thought they had us but, they thought wrong ! Our big fish was 7lbs 2 ounces which won our crew some VQ T-shirts and a little change from their friends. Yesterday evening I had the pleasure of taking Ron and Connie out fishing to celebrate their 53rd anniversary. Fished outside of the pack of boats and found some nice fish with a steady bite out there. They were excellent on the rods and did not drop a single fish including the 9 lb 11 oz beast caught by Connie. Excited to see you guys again in July! ~Captain Ryan
