I’m so proud of the excellent performance by our Drexel University Percussion Ensemble, yesterday, at the Creese Student Center and we were honored to have our ...guests, the Goschenhoppen Strolling Fiddlers, join us for several of their tunes. Thank The Lord, this is my 10th year as Director of the Ensemble (14 years total @ Drexel) and it has been my honor, privilege and joy, each Term, to serve all the gifted students over the years! This weekend - on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2018, 3:00 PM, at the MANDELL THEATER, 3220 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19104 - our Drexel University Percussion Ensemble will perform a Concert entitled, "A Winter Celebration of Percussion & Rhythm," with musical tributes to the 100th Birthday Anniversaries of Buddy Rich (named "The World's Greatest Drummer") & Leonard Bernstein (described as "one of the most prodigiously talented and successful musicians in American history"), as well as the music of Paul Halley, Gene Koshinski, the debut of the Drexel Dragsters Drumline, traditional rhythms from Ghana, West Africa & featuring a number of student soloists. Happy Sunday Friends! I just wanted to announce that TODAY, God willing, our Drexel University Percussion Ensemble, will be performing a mini-Concert entitled, "Celtic Journey" - which will take place @ 4:00 PM in the Creese Student Center, 1st Floor Lobby, of MacAlister Hall, 33rd & Chestnut Sts, in Philadelphia, PA! Our repertoire will include the pieces, "Gaelforce" (arranged for percussion ensemble by our PE student, Conal Donagher), "Irish Impressions 2," "The Butterfly"... (from "Celtic Woman" - arranged for percussion ensemble by our PE student, Beverly C. Peders), and "Irish Tune From County Derry (aka "Danny Boy"). There will also be several of our PE student members performing solos and if there are any Bagpipers out there, who would like to come JAM with us and are near our Drexel University Campus in Philly (33rd & Chestnut - Creese Student Center around 3:30 PM TODAY), please come join us! Ladies & Gentleman ... may I present to you the 2016 Drexel University Percussion Ensemble! As the Director of this wonderful group, it was my honor and privile...ge to witness and be a part of the stunning performance by our very gifted students at last night's Winter "Steampunk Symphony" Concert at Drexel's Mandell Theater, as well as the incredible job by Greg Wright & his Drexel Guitar Ensemble, who opened the evening! A big thanks to our Music Program Director, Luke Abruzzo, Performing Arts Department Head, Miriam Giguere, Ensemble Coordinator, Scott Bacon, and our Dean Allen Sabinson.
