MYTH OR FACT Replacing the sugar in recipes with honey is a healthy choice. ... . . IT DEPENDS! The Fact: honey contains antioxidants, trace amounts of minerals, and has antibacterial qualities (especially higher-quality varieties!). It definitely has more health benefits than refined sugar. The Myth: despite those benefits, honey is still sugar and that’s something most of us get way too much of! It is also calorie dense (it has a lot of calories for the amount of nutrients). Eating too much added sugar is linked with many chronic illnesses and diseases. The takeaway: enjoy honey but do it in moderation!

Stop comparing yourselves to other people! Your only competition is the person in the mirror. Truth. It is great to find someone to look up to, someone who inspires you, etc. But friends, please don't compare your day 1 to their day 3,000! Set your bar high and work towards achieving your goals. Set stretch goals to push yourself harder and further than you ever thought possible! You will be amazed at what you will (notice, I sad 'will' not 'might') accomplish! ... If you need help with goal-setting I am here for you! Otherwise - go kick some derriere! #driven #drivefitproject #goalsetting

What’s ONE thing on your 2021 bucket list?

Drive Personal Fitness, LLC 02.12.2020

DIET SODA ALERT!!! If you drink diet soda because you think it’s better for your heart than regular soda, a SURPRISING new study found out some pretty interesting info... What matters: your overall lifestyle choices.... Researchers in France found that people who regularly drink beverages with artificial sweeteners had a bigger risk of heart disease and stroke than people who avoided diet beverages altogether. In fact, their risk was about the same as people who drank the regular sugar-packed version of the beverage! Researchers said this doesn’t mean diet soda causes cardiovascular disease. They said it might be linked to other lifestyle choices made by the people who regularly choose diet drinks. For example: drinking a diet soda, and then eating chips or a sugary dessert. This finding came from a study following the health and nutrition habits of 100,000 people in France. REFERENCE: www.webmd.com//2/diet-drinks-dont-do-your-heart-any-favors

If you work from home, make sure you choose a pet-friendly plant (like spider plants, Boston ferns, banana plants, or butterfly palm). Do you have any plants right now in your office or house!? Making R&R plans for the holiday season!!! We’re heading into the last lap of 2020 and while this year’s holiday might be different than last year, I already know things are bound to get a little hectic. This is why I’m doing my absolute best to BUILD in some time to SLOW DOWN and ENJOY the season!... Here are some of the things I am planning to do: *Watch holiday movies on the Hallmark channel *Bake Christmas cookies with my family *Catch up on reading some books I have been wanting to read *Schedule a massage *Schedule a mani/pedi appointment And while I’m enjoying those things, that is ALL I plan to do! No phone, no distractions! What are YOU going to do for some R&R time this month? Let me know in the comments!

Q: Every afternoon I get tired and hungry! What should I do? A: There are a couple things to try! First, make sure you’re eating enough for breakfast and lunch, and include some protein-rich foods. Protein can help keep you feeling full and satisfied and is less apt to contribute to that midday lull feeling.... Second, there is nothing wrong eating a between-meal snack! Make it a healthy choice that can tide you over until dinner. Planning ahead so you have something on-hand is key here! Think about items like fruit, nuts, or Greek yogurt.

What did you immediately think when you read this quote? Read it again and just let your mind think freely... does anything resonate with you? Have you been stuck in an area of your life, wanting to change but because you are 'comfortable enough' so you haven't pushed yourself to actually do anything to make the change happen? Yep - I bet you have... We have all been here, my friends!! Day in, and day out, how many times do you hear people say things like, "I... want to lose weight," or "I want to feel better about the way I look," or "I want to have more energy and feel better physically." Yet, these same individuals don't actually make a change in their daily behaviors to work towards those things - things such as changing their nutrition habits, changing their exercise habits, etc. Sadly, it sometimes takes a life-changing event to motivate people to 'change their behaviors' when it comes to changing their health. While sometimes this can be enough, often times waiting this long can add extra expenses like doctor's visits, medicines, and things that you can't put a dollar amount on like the impact to your quality of life. At Drive, we take a preventative approach to health. Our aim is to take measures on a daily basis (#dailyhabits) to positively impact our health through exercise and proper nutrition to prevent the onset of illness. While you cannot prevent everything, you can build your body up to be a strong fortress so that it is prepared to fight off illness with as much defense as possible! My challenge to you is to set a goal to improve your health, build a strong body, and take a preventative approach to your wellness!

If you need a dose of motivation to finish 2020 strong, try this: Look through your email contacts or social media followers/friends lists for the names of 5-7 people who have inspired you in the past. It could be someone whose work you admire someone pushed you to work harder at a job or in school who posts inspirational content that you enjoy ... or whose dedication in the gym or on the playing field made you want to try harder! ... Then, every day for the next 5-7 days choose one of them to message with a thank you and be sure to tell them the impact they made on you! This can help break you out of a rut and rev up your own motivation! Plus, it’s a great way to pay it forward. Try it and see. :)

Quick tip to help you avoid the iffy sniff test when it comes to leftovers ... Make sure you label ALL of your leftovers and prepped food BEFORE you put them in the fridge or freezer! It doesn’t have to be a fancy label. A piece of masking tape and a magic marker will do the trick. Just write what’s inside the container and (most important of all) THE DATE.... I know we always THINK we will remember when we put that leftover stir-fry in the fridge, but too many times we don’t! There’s no point in doing meal prep ahead of time if you just end up throwing it out! Do you label everything before you put it in the fridge? Let me know below! :-)

What’s your BIGGEST goal for the rest of 2020?

Drive Personal Fitness, LLC 15.09.2020

I AM OFFICIALLY PUTTING 2020 on notice! Want to join me?! This year has been so crazy, and I want to end it on a high note. That’s why I’m committing to getting back to a healthier (and more consistent nutrition plan)! I admittedly have fallen off track with my nutrition and I am truly feeling the results of poor eating, ugh! Enough is enough!! I am committing to tracking my food again until I am consistent with my macros and then will stay consistent on my plan. Ti...me to kick things up a notch. This goal is important to me because I honestly feel like crap when I eat poorly. I have noticed that my energy has been low, I have had more digestion issues as of lately (TMI I know!), and I am not sleeping well. I am not only having trouble falling asleep, I am experiencing restless sleep. Friends, I usually don’t have any of these issues when my nutrition is on point. Are you joining me in doubling-down on your goals for the rest of 2020? There is still time to make serious progress before the year is over! What are YOUR goals for the next two months?! Let me know below!

I apologize in advance. I apologize in advance for the feeling that hits you when you read this and realize that BAM! Another excuse has just been taken away from you. You see, it really comes down to a matter of priority. Where does your health fall in your list of priorities? I assure you that regardless of how busy you are or how many important responsibilities you have on your plate that I can help you find time in your life to take care of YOU. ... You must make your health a priority. If you do not make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness. Think about that...

Tip to trick your brain into helping you create (and stick with) healthy habits! I have a tip for you that’s backed by real research in brain science and it takes just 5 seconds. The moment you get an instinct to do something healthy (exercise, floss your teeth, eat healthy, stretch) Just countdown 5-4-3-2-1, and then DO IT!!! ... Because otherwise, your brain will tell you dozens of reasons why you SHOULDN’T do those things and you can end up stuck in your same-old, same-old rut. Why this works: your brain is always on the lookout for threats and it wants you to feel safe and in control. So whenever you try to develop a new behavior, it can respond by encouraging you to stay in your comfort zone. BUT if you take action before your brain kicks into gear, it short circuits the process! This is the 5-Second Rule made famous by author Mel Robbins. And it really does work as long as you take ACTION! Have you heard of this rule before? Have you ever tried it!? MYTH OR FACT When you first start working out or are coming back after a layoff, start with just cardio workouts to lay a good foundation of fitness before you begin strength training. ... . . MYTH! While cardio workouts walking, biking, jogging, cardio classes are important for your health and overall fitness, resistance training also offers huge benefits that you don’t want to miss out on! It can help you become stronger in ALL of your daily activities including your cardio workouts! and make it easier to stay active. It’s linked with a number of health benefits, from improved flexibility and balance to stronger bones and reduced risk of health problems like heart disease and type 2 diabetes. For best results, do 2-3 total body weight workouts a week in addition to cardio workouts (if you’re doing those separately)! #dailyworkouts #dailyworkoutmotivation #personaltrainer #weightloss #workoutprograms #musclegain #fatloss #stressmanagement #preventillness #nutritionprograms #customworkoutplans #onlinetrainer #nutritioncoach #dietician #mealplans #custommealplans #groupworkouts #resistancetraining #functionalfitness #drivefitproject #metabolism #metabolicboost #healthysnacks #fatburningtips #lowbloodsugar #highmetabolism #selfconfidence #positivebodyimage #selflove #onlineworkouts
