My brother Andrew and I lit the Christmas Candles. This is tradition for us to light these candles atop the farm hill overlooking the farm. These candles are for our family members who have passed. We added another candle for our Dad who passed away in November. The Duda family wishes a Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

SWEET CORN UPDATE We often get asked, what do you do in the winter? Well there is a lot of stuff we do in the winter but I wanted to tell you what I did today. I spent over 6 hours with a seed salesman from NY who drove here from Rochester NY to to talk sweet corn and get our seed order. This guy is truly one of the best if not the best sweet corn expert in the country. His knowledge, passion, and communication with the sweet corn breeders is like no one else! We st...udied his analysis of over 150 different varieties of sweet corn that were trailed this past season. The level of detail of his analysis is off the chart. What’s the most important to us is sweetness and flavor! What I am excited to tell our customers is I am so excited about some of the new varieties we are going to grow along side our main varieties next season. These new ones might replace the ones we are growing!! I’m also excited about 2 new green bean varieties as well. See more

We want to thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of losing our dad. We really have enjoyed reading some of the stories how our dad influenced you. I want to share a note from one of the farm’s past employees. This is from Eric Johnson of Brownsville. His job now is currently Director of Special Education at Beth-Center School District. Two Masters degrees, One in Special Education and one in Education Administration. And Doctorate of co...rn picking. From Eric: I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Mr Duda will always have a special place in my life story, simply from working with me during the off season cutting trees down, splitting wood, and making a fence out of a tree. During those times he talked to me. He taught me. Guided me on real life stuff. I will never forget that. You guys and your family are an extended part of my family and I will never forget to acknowledge or remember everything you have done for me. You are great people and your dad was a great human being. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had getting to know Mr. Duda. I’m thinking about guys as well as sending prayers. Take care.

Our dad, Dr. John Duda Sr, passed away this morning peacefully at home on the farm at the age of 89. He influenced so many people in his life. He was the hardest working man I have ever seen. He was a life long scholar and fascinated by reading and education right up to the final months. He is the smartest man I have ever known. Rest In Peace dad. Here are some pics of him and mainly his grandchildren that he loved so dearly.

This is the last of our cherry tomatoes. I’m making tomato juice out of these this evening. We actually had a lot of produce left over but unfortunately not a lot customers this time of year hence why we closed for the season on November 7th. On a positive note we donated 18 pallets full of produce ( 5 tons or more) to our local food bank today. Hopefully this will help some in need to have a fuller belly this Thanksgiving. Some of the items donated were: red tomatoes, green tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, roma tomatoes, multi colored bell peppers, hot peppers, jalapeño, Cubanelle peppers. red potatoes, white potatoes, apples, winter squash, pie pumpkins, cauliflower, broccoli, and cucumbers.
