HS Parents/Guardians, Tuesday April 6 you should have received an email from the HS with a survey. Please complete it by Friday April 16th to help secure a 1.2 million dollar Upward Bound grant. If you did not receive the email or need help completing the survey, got to the school website (https://eahs.eastonsd.org/index.jsp#) or contact the school . Thanks!... _________________ Original Email ________________ Northampton Community College (NCC) is partnering with Easton Area School District to apply for a $1.2m grant through the Upward Bound program to identify and assist income eligible and first generation college-bound students who have the potential to succeed in higher education. If we receive the grant, the $1.2 million dollars would be over five years and would provide these students programs and services. We need your assistance with completing a survey so that we can gather the information for developing this grant. The survey should only take a few minutes to complete. The data collected in the survey is about the activities and services offered at our school. This information will be used to show that there is a need for an Upward Bound (UB) program at Easton Area High School. In order to establish a UB program, evidence of gaps in school resources and student assistance must be illustrated. The survey results will be included solely for the proposal to the U.S. Office of Postsecondary Education, and will not be released to any other agency or individual. This survey has no bearing on our school’s performance rating. Individual responses will remain confidential.

CHESS Do you Play? Interested in learning? The Boys & Girls Club of Easton welcomes one of our newest certified Volunteers, Mentor, and Coach, Mr. Kirk Hill...man. Starting this Monday, April 5, 2021, between 7:00pm and 8:30pm., Hillman will bring his skillsets to the B&GCE located at 210 Jones Houston Way in Southside to teach chess and ultimately develop a CHESS CLUB for any and all club members who play, and/or learning how to play the game of chess. Chess is one of the oldest games in the world dating back over 1500 years. The game of chess has evolved as it spread around the globe to the game we play today. As a result, this journey has brought people together from different cultures, ages, and backgrounds over a common bond and passion for the game. All participants will receive their own personal chessboard courtesy of the Boys & Girls Club of Easton, where they can keep their boards at the BGCE or travel with it for practice at home and for play outside of the CHESS CLUB. Offering a warm welcome to Mr. Kirk Hillman and the positive mentorship, guidance, and direction, and meaningful impactful relationships he is bringing to the young people who join the CHESS CLUB. We hope to see you on Monday, April 5, 2021, at 7:00pm for the meeting & Greet Session with Mr. Kirk Hillman and when you can make your first move count by signing up for CHESS CLUB. For more information about Triple Play Sports programs, contact Monica Bowles, B&GCE Program Director, or Jon Young, B&GCE Administrative/Program Assistant, at (610) 703-8575. Dean Young, B&GCE Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Easton, can also be reached at (484) 239-2075.
