The hunk of burning southern love is Ricky! Ricky is a shepherd mix who is around 8 months old, neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm tested negative. This guy is so much fun!!! Ricky is a super playful guy who loves to make squeaker toys squeak. He is learning how to walk nice on a harness, which is is picking up rather quickly. Ricky knows how to sit, shake and lay down. He does have a bit of energy as he is still a puppy, but don’t that deter you. He is extra swe...et and loves to spend time with his people too. Ricky would do well with other dogs if his energy but we are unsure how he is with cats. As far as human siblings go, he may knock the younger ones down due to being excited, but otherwise he would do fine. If you’re interested in adopting Ricky, please go to our website and fill out an adoption application. Once received, a staff member will be in touch. Any questions, please call the shelter at (814) 834-3247 See more

Good things come to those who wait and we have been not so patiently waiting for this next round of South Carolina dogs to arrive and they are here!!! First up is Rosa! Rosa is a 1 year old terrier mix who is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm tested negative. This girl is the perfect mix of party animal and snuggle bug, as you can see from the video! Rosa is a a very lovable girl who can be a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. She seems to enjoy the company o...f other small dogs like her and she wouldn’t mind having human brothers or sisters either. Rosa walks well on a leash and seems to enjoy her time spent outside. If you’re interested in adding Rosa to your family please go to our website and fill out an adoption application. Once received, a staff member will be in touch. Any questions, please call the shelter at (814) 834-3247. See more

Say hello to Kingsley, a 5 year old lab/retriever/pit mix who was found as a stray in South Carolina and is now available for adoption. Since he was a stray he is just now learning the world isn't a big, bad, scary place like he once thought. As a result, he is very shy when he first meets someone new but once he gets to know you he is the biggest cuddle bug you will ever meet. Along with being shy, Kingsley is also frightened by loud noises and, honestly, anything he hasn't ...come into contact with before, because of this he will need someone who can be patient and loving towards him while he learns to trust them and become comfortable in their home and with them. Kingsley loves going for walks in the woods, he really comes to life with his head up high and tail wagging whenever he gets onto one of the paths around the shelter, cheese of any kind, stuffed toys that squeak, and his soft, comfty bed and/or a couch. He also feels very safe in his kennel, because of this we would recommend having a safe place, like a crate or place to hide, set up in your home for him so whenever he feels overly stressed or anxious he has a place he can go to calm down. Kingsley does great with other dogs that are his size or bigger and kids, but he doesn't do well with cats or small dogs. He is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Kingsley please go to our website and fill out an application and once it's recieved a staff member will be in touch. If you have any questions you can call the shelter at 814-834-3247. - The first 3 pictures are from when he first arrived and was still getting use to us. - The next 2 pictures are from after he has gotten to know us a little more. - The next couple are from his favorite thing ever, going for a walk in the woods. - The last 2 are from when he spent the weekend at a staff member's home for a sleepover.

CHECK THIS OUT!!! We will be starting our Pack Walks again this Sunday April 11th. The walk will start at 11am at the shelter and they normally last around an hour. These walks are for shelter dogs only- it’s an awesome enrichment for them (and us ). To walk the dogs, you must be at least 16 years old or be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All we ask if that you wear closed toed shoes. If you haven’t volunteered this year, then will be a volunteer paper to fill out but that can be done the same day of the pack walk. Any questions, please call the shelter at (814) 834-3247.

UPDATE- Bodhi has been adopted! This handsome fellow is Bodhi, a 3 year old lab mix, from South Carolina who is now available for adoption. Bodhi was roaming the streets as a stray before being taken to their local shelter and as a result he can be a little shy or timid when he first meets someone but if you give this little guy a chance, you will start to see his easy going and playful personality shine through. Even when he is in a playful and fun loving mood he is still ve...ry calm, cool, and collected. Bodhi is looking for a family with or without dogs, kids, and/or cats (he doesn't have a preference) to hang out on the couch with while watching some TV and get some cuddles during the commercials. He is up to date on his vaccines, microchipped, neutered, and he tested negative for heartworm. If you are interested in adopting Bodhi, you can go to our website and fill out an application and once it's recieved a staff member will be in touch. If you have any questions you can call the shelter at 814-834-3247. See more

Our next southern dog ready for adoption is Odin. Odin is a 1 year old shepherd/retriever mix who is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm tested negative. He is a handsome fella who is finding out it’s fun to go for walks with his favorite volunteers and see new things. He knows how to sit and is learning on how to take his treats nicely. Odin’s ideal home would be where he can be the only dog in the house, getting all the treats and love from his people. Because of his shyness, we also recommend a home where the kids are older (the younger kids can be loud and rambunctious). If you’re interested in giving Odin his forever home, please go to our website and fill out an adoption application. Once received, a staff member will be in touch. Any questions, please call the shelter at (814) 834-3247.

Get ready to have your heart stolen!!! This handsome pup is named Henry and he is searching for a family to call his own. Henry is a 5 month old lab/shepherd mix who is neutered and has had his frost round of vaccines. Because be is just a pup, he will need two more distemper vaccines to guarantee protection from diseases, especially parvovirus. This guy is the typical puppy- all he wants is to play and snuggle. The lamb chop toy is by far his favorite! If your interested in adopting Henry, please go to our website (www.echumanesociety.org) and fill out an adoption application.
