We need your help! This photo has been donated to the Bricktown Museum but we have no information about it. We have noted several clues. We believe it is somew...here in Mount Union due to the dual gauge track in the foreground. Note the external frame boxcar to right of the photo behind the building. There is a large gear or sprocket behind the fifth gentleman from the right in the back row. We also believe the front row of gentlemen are resting their feet on some sort of conveyor chain on its side. There appears to be a small section of large pipe on the dock floor between the first and second gentlemen sitting to the right of the photo. Do you recognize this site, know anyone pictured or see any additional clues??? Please comment below! See more

Metrotrails Then and Now Series: Historic 1930s image of the flood damaged ganister quarry railroad bridge near Mt. Union PA compared to the same scene on our 2...020 hike. The area quarries were served by the Pennsylvania Railroad as well as the East Broad Top out of Mt. Union. This bridge carried rail cars across the Juniata River to serve the mineral interests on the slope of Jacks Mountain in Jacks Narrows. Today, the area is extremely popular with hikers who flock to the area to hike the "1000 Steps" built by the quarry workers, now part of Standing Stone Trail. Much of the infrastructure including this bridge have vanished. Abutments of this bridge's replacement can still be seen in the Juniata in Jacks Narrows. The quarries discontinued operation in the 1950s. See more
