Thank you Boy Scouts of America/Cub Scout Pack 3325 and Cub Scout Master, Travis Shellenberger, for partnering with us for the Halloween and Costume Parade this evening at Emmanuel Home! It was a joy to see our older adult residents sitting by their windows with excitement while they waited for the arrival of the children and visitors from our community. Emmanuel Home grounds were lit up with bright lights while the children and seniors exchanged friendly waves and smiles whe...n interacting through the glass windows. The Cub Scouts wore costumes and face masks while practicing social distancing by holding a rope with knots tied 6 feet apart. The children engaged in physical activity in the process and experienced the blessing of demonstrating a significant act of kindness while our seniors experienced encouragement and an out of the ordinary visit from their neighbors. It was a beautiful thing to see neighbors encouraging neighbors especially during these challenging times of social isolation and the strains of this pandemic. #thislittlelightofmine #lightupthedarkness #kindnessmatters #socialdistancing #wearyourmask #CaringthroughCovid #neighborhoodproject

The last 10 months have been challenging to say the least but the last several weeks we experienced an outbreak. Our hearts go out to the family members of our residents. We are thrilled to report that the quarantine has been lifted at Emmanuel Home. All residents and staff have tested negative for the virus for two consecutive weeks. We are so thankful to the Lord for this Christmas miracle and all those who have prayed for us. Our amazing team of dedicated frontline healthcare workers did an extraordinary job with virus mitigation efforts over the last several weeks. We truly could not be more proud of them and their tireless efforts! It was great to see so many smiles today just in time to celebrate the joyful Christmas season!

As we prepare for reopening and resuming scheduled visitation we would like to remind everyone that all visitors must wear a face mask on Emmanuel Home property, use hand sanitizer, and practice social distancing. Please postpone visitation if you have any flu or COVID related symptoms. We encourage you to get your flu shot if you haven’t already. Stay healthy! #wearyourmask #socialdistancing

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.... Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Luke 10:33-35 Why do we provide Personal Care for the elderly at Emmanuel Home? We simply follow the example of the Lord Jesu...s Christ in the gospel of Luke, where the Lord Jesus journeyed, having compassion, bringing a man in need of care to an inn. At that inn the Lord Jesus personally took care of him, binding up his wounds and providing for his ongoing daily care and needs. What a wonderful privilege for us at Emmanuel Home, having an inn where souls can be compassionately cared for daily, until the Lord comes again. It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

There is power in partnership and prayer. We have great news to share! After identifying an isolated positive case of COVID-19 in a staff member earlier this week at Emmanuel Home, we were able to mobilize quickly in an effort to mitigate the virus. While working closely in partnership with the local and state health department and Geisinger’s Rapid Response Healthcare Coalition Program, within 24 hours of identifying the isolated case we were able to complete contact tracing..., Universal COVID-19 testing on all staff and residents, and inform all of our families. We are thankful to report that all other tests have come back negative. A special thank you to Geisinger’s RRHCP team, Maryann Lynn, Ginger Billman, and Kimberly Delbo for testing all of our residents and staff this week. It was a pleasure partnering with Geisinger to promote the health and safety of vulnerable older adults within our community. #powerinpartnersip #CaringthroughCovid #powerinprayer

Yesterday was a beautiful fall day for some sunshine and fresh air! Our residents enjoyed getting outdoors for some swing time, walking, reminiscing, and sharing their favorite fall activities and recipes! With social distancing we are limited in what we can do, but a day filled with sunshine and fellowship was much needed. Vernetta was the winner of our pumpkin guessing contest!
