PET PEEVE: People, who ask other lay people on Facebook questions before and/or instead of asking their breeder first. A responsible breeder does not just hand you a dog and walk away. We birthed and loved your puppy first. We are available throughout the years for you to use us as a resource. We are happy to answer any and all questions, provide information, and hear how our precious fur baby is doing. It is fine to ask others as well, but remember we are experts in the breed. We are eager to help you, with training suggestions, grooming suggestions, etc. Please avail yourselves of our knowledge, along with your vets, and your friends.

Yes, when we deliver that perfect little Collie into your arms, we have fulfilled our commitment as breeders to you. We, however, have a loving, lifelong commitment to that pup that we birthed, nurtured, socialized and loved first. We hope that you will stay in touch with photos, questions, and updates. We will happily welcome our baby back at any time if your life circumstances change your ability to keep it. Some of you will stay in touch often and become lifelong friends. ...Some will send occasional notes and pictures. Some will never get back in touch with us, and it is those we worry about. Is the puppy thriving? Are you happy with it? Have any problems arisen that we can help you through? You do not have to be our friend, but let us know how the Collie pup we entrusted you with is doing. Thank you, Your dedicated breeder.

We accept personal checks for deposits only. Those checks have time to clear. The remainder is always cash at pick up time. A check is a promise to pay. If you bring a check at pick up time, I promise to let you come back again to pick up your puppy when the check clears.

Our precious girl still growing up in Russia. We cannot wait until she is old enough and travel restrictions are lifted for her to come here to live.

Be aware, if you do not get back to us after the interview, we do not hold a pup for you. If you do not email the required information, we do not chase you down for it. If you do not send a deposit, we do not reserve a pup for you. What we do is move onto the next applicant, who is willing to follow instructions. www.lassiecomehome.net

You have to call to qualify for: waiting list, to purchase, for information. The key words here are call and qualify. Puppies must be a good fit for your lifestyle and your personality. We have to get to know you to place an adult, or puppy with you. This is not a sack of potatoes. It is your newest family member. You can use texts, email, and Messenger to initiate contact, and leave a phone number. 412-344-2999.

I know I've said this before but as a reminder...between 75 and 97 % of collies in the US are affected to some degree by CEA. 75 % of collies are also affected ...by MDR. Its not easy, cheap, or realistic to expect that you're going to find a pet quality RC that is clear/unaffected by either condition. Responsible breeders will have their dogs DNA tested and use the best dogs for breeding however both the AKC and Collie foundation acknowledge that its unlikely and undesirable to use only unaffected dogs for breeding as the available gene pool would be so small it would open the door for other abnormalities. Guidelines right now are for using only clear/carrier for MDR and clear/carrier/mildly affected for CEA for breeding. But to expect you're going to get a clear/unaffected for both MDR and CEA for a "reasonable" price for a pet/companion is entirely unreasonable. To castigate breeders for producing puppies using mildly affected/carrier parents when that practice is advocated by collie authorities is rather pointless. Just my thoughts as a breeder who has investigated these genetic conditions with my vet team and learned all we can. See more
