Our second Student of the Week is 5 year-old, Frankie who takes Ballet and Acro. Frankie is in Pre-K and this is her third year at EDC! In The Nutcracker, she had been a ‘Cheese’ and a ‘Lamb’ and she says she loves dance because ‘I love to see all my friends.’ She says she loves to ‘jump,’ but doing ‘moons and stars’ stretching is hard sometimes. Her favorite color is teal and she loves cotton candy ice cream and grape popsicles. When she grows up she wants to be a Police Officer...Bravo! Frankie brings joy to all her friends, family, and everyone that meets her

Our last Student of the Week is preschooler, Vivian, 5. This is her 2nd year at EDC where she takes Hip Hop. She says she loves to dance because she ‘has special moves’ . Her favorite thing to do in class are ‘sassy walks,’ and the most challenging thing is remembering ‘the practice.’ In The Nutcracker she was Cheese in the Battle Scene. Her favorite color is blue and her favorite thing to eat are chicken nuggets. When she grows up she wants to be a builder...we just hope she does it with her ‘special moves!’

Our second Student of the Week is fourth grader, Alina, 9. This is Alina’s 4th year at EDC where she takes Acro. She says she likes to come to dance because she ‘likes to see her friends.’ Her favorite thing to do in Acro is stretch, and her most challenging this is learning new things. Her favorite color is purple and her favorite thing to eat is pizza. When she grows up she says she wants to be a professional dancer! Keep up the great work, Alina

Our first Student of the Week is 3 year-old, Harper! Miss Harper is in preschool and this is her first year at EDC. She loves to dance because she ‘always likes to go here!’ She says she loves doing ballet, and there is nothing she doesn’t like about dance. Her favorite colors are pink and purple and she loves to eat carrots, strawberries, and blueberries. When she grows up she wants to be ‘4 and a princess.’

Our first Student of the Week is fourth grader, Rachel, 9 1/2. This is Rachel’s first year at EDC where she takes Jazz. She says she likes dancing because ‘she hasn’t danced in a while and wanted to get into it.’ All of the steps are her favorite, and she doesn’t have a least favorite step. Her favorite color is light blue and she loves to eat candy! She also says she really ‘likes llamas’. She’s not sure what she wants to be when she grows up, but we think she’s got some time to figure that out!

The instructor of the month is Kelly Stolar. Kelly Stolar is a native of the Buffalo, NY area where she had the wonderful opportunity to learn and work alongside her mother who taught dance in the Greater Buffalo area for 55 years and had studied Tap with Sammy Davis, Jr. and Fred Kelly (Gene’s younger brother). Since moving to Erie in 2000, Kelly has been an instructor at the American College Dance Festival, Kristin’s Dance Company, Mercyhurst College’s Summer Dance Experience, Mercyhurst University Carpe Diem Academy, and Mercyhurst North East Dance Institute. Kelly currently works at the Neighborhood Art House and has been a Tap instructor for Erie Dance Conservatory for eleven years. She is also the Artistic Director for Tap Essentials her performance and competitive Tap group.

Our final Student of the Week is kindergartener, Jeaniva, 7. Jeaniva has been at EDC for 3 years and she loves to dance because ‘it’s fun.’ Her favorite steps are sautés, and the hardest part of dance are the rehearsals for the shows. When she grows up she wants to be a veterinarian and a dance teacher , and in The Nutcracker she has been a Baby Mouse, a China Doll, and a Bumblebee! Jeaniva tells us she loves being a big sister and a little sister
