Missing from the Leila Troup services videos- memories by her cousin, Jan Blank. - I met Leila when she was just a few days old. Our fathers are brothers and we are cousins. We spent holidays, many Sundays, and vacations in Maine together. Quite a caravan we made -- our grandparents in their funny old Studebaker, Leila's family and mine both trailing boats, cars loaded with people, stuff, cats and dogs. Many arguments about the route, where to stop, etc. until we finally go...t to our beloved lake for 2 weeks. Leila was probably the smartest, talented, and most gifted person I've ever known. Her knowledge was wide ranging. Her singing voice just beautiful. She was a wonderful and creative artist and a great baker and cook. Her Christian knowledge and faith has been an inspiration. We had quite different tastes. She was dramatic, quirky, and mischievous. But we always had fun, great talks. She was a very active person and, at times, a daredevil -- climbing high, plunging off docks. She faced her health struggles of the past few years bravely. And I had hopes she would improve and we might have another trip together. We exchanged texts almost daily for the past several years -- chitchat, recipes, memories.... Though I know she is in a better place and free of pain and struggle, I will miss her always. See more
