Get to Know Our Brands Dutch House Caramels is a small business located in central Minnesota. Their goal is to provide a product of exceptional quality with equally exceptional service. In 1997 they developed a recipe for caramel candy and started making the product in their restaurant, Bayfields Bake Shop & Grill, in Alexandria, Minnesota. In 1999 they started promoting the product at wholesale gift shows and soon their caramel was sold in gift shops throughout the Midwest.... During the summer of 2000, they built a commercial kitchen in the basement of their home near Osakis, Minnesota. This kitchen, specifically designed to make caramel candy, was the start of Dutch House Confections. In 2013 they purchased a building 3 miles from our home. Their current location in Nelson, Minnesota, offers them ample space for expansion. Today is National Carmel Day.
