Two months ago was truly fruitful as Suresh & Archana Sawant (India) baptized 12 people from Dalit (untouchable caste) background. Last month, fourteen people heard the gospel for the first time in a village and decided to follow Jesus despite social and religious challenges. At another village, they visited a family. The father was a thief and drunkard. As soon as they began praying for the family, a woman who was demon possessed started crawling on the ground screaming and trying to attack them. The evangelism team prayed earnestly and she was delivered from the demon. Seeing this, several other women gave their lives to Jesus and renounced idol worship. And the gospel marvelously transformed the father. He has decided to serve the Lord in his own community. The Sawants are training him in the Word God.

Our beloved friend, Gary Butler went home to be with his Savior on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Gary's love for people was contagious, as was his sense of humor, his kindness and his generosity. Gary and Nancy's ministry touched lives around the world, through years of pastoral ministry in New York, as missionaries in Brazil, and as FIM's Director of Mobilization. Age was no barrier for Gary, as students on college campus connected with him and recognized his genuine interest ...in their lives, and his wisdom concerning evangelism, pastoral ministry and missions. The Lord used Gary to encourage Christians seeking to serve in global missions, and then prepare them through a training process he developed. It is impossible to know how many lives have been touched around the world as a result of Gary's ministry. Pray for Nancy, their sons, Mike, Greg and Nate, and their grandchildren. Missionary candidates present their ministries at FIM's Candidate Orientation Program. We are blessed this year with 21 missionary candidates serving in Mexico, Greece, Lithuania, Kenya, India, Argentina, Philippines, Togo and the U.S.

Meet FIM's missionary candidates!

21 new candidates are training to begin their ministry with FIM this week at Pinebrook camp in the Poconos. They are preparing for ministries in Lithuania, Greece, Togo, Kenya, Philippines, Mexico, Argentina, India, Croatia, and the US! Can you partner with one of these missionaries to spread the gospel?

Currently in Japan, Christians are few and the churches are small. For this reason, fellowship with believers is especially important. Due to the Coronavirus, a pastor hosted an online youth meeting for three churches and 16 were present. Jon and Mitsy said it was a great time of virtual fellowship. There were no snacks to eat, but the time was sweet.

Bryan and Susan have been starting a church in Mexico, and every few months, an unsaved lady has shown up. Due to the Coronavirus, this lady unfortunately lost her job. For this reason, the church has been helping her with food which has also provided an open door for sharing the gospel. After the first few weeks, she told them that she understood the gospel and trusted in Christ for salvation! Since then, she has been attending the online services and prayer meetings every week!

An FIM missionary in Africa recently had the opportunity to share his faith with several strangers in a bank when he connected the current situation of the Coronavirus to our relationship with God. He was discussing recent events regarding the virus with another man, and told him, Some people do not believe in this virus because it is invisible. Many people don’t believe in God either because He is invisible, otherwise they would not lie or steal before Him! The man was so surprised at this idea that his jaw dropped. Also, because of social distancing, he had to speak loudly enough that others around them could hear the conversation as well!

Few things in our lifetime have caused as great upheaval for the entire world as the Coronavirus. We are not the first to experience this kind of overwhelming turmoil. The prophet Habakkuk testifies of his trust in the Lord during a time of overwhelming crisis. The Babylonian army was coming to destroy Judah. Crops would fail. Lives would be lost. Yet Habakkuk knows that God was still in control and had a plan. This knowledge caused him to rejoice, even as uncertainty and fear surrounded him.
