At about 5am today we lost Solo. She was a Black Australorp at just 5 months old. Solo was named by my daughter because she she was always on her own. She never huddled with the other chicks, once older she kept largely to herself. It may seem odd for a homestead to mourn the loss of a chicken, but we love each and every animal here. R.I.P. Solo, your human caretaker will miss you greatly.

We currently have young 2 Ayam Cemani roosters. 4 months old. These birds have expressed the woolly variant. A recessive gene considered a sport variation in Indonesia. They each have a bit of white on a toenail. We also have a young pair of Golden Sebrights, and a few Black Australorp roosters. We are able to meet in the Pike PA. Orange NY, Sussex, NJ area. Or pick up in Pike PA. Contact us via messenger for more information.

For our first run of meat birds we chose a slower growing hybrid. The horror stories of Cornish crosses was off putting for me. I never would want an animal to suffer. I want them to be happy and loved until their time comes for processing. These are a combination of Imperial and Royal birds from Moyers Hatchery. They are currently 4 weeks old and weighing anywhere from 1.7 to 2 pounds.
