Fogal Glassworks

Check out how this side light progressed this Summer! You may find it looking familiar. It’s the 2nd piece of a 3-part front door project for our friends in Chambersburg. Cementing began today. Scroll to the end to see the nearly-finished product. ‘Almost ready for install. It is so gorgeous!

A beautiful install from today. 4’x4’ Victorian style with a unique Youghiogheny glass as the feature pieces, and jewels as accents. This window is installed interior, allowing us to use only copper foil. A window this size typically is reinforced with rebar, but our customer preferred the simplicity of the piece. The geometric pieces were fitted with a flat copper wire, sandwiched between the glass, the length of the window, and soldered to hide the reinforcement. A very cheery window!

The heart longs for things lost. I can’t quite put into words why this is. Our hearts are pained by the thought of time and artistic efforts that went into creating some of the most beautiful works made by common, yet uncommon, people - collaborated on for almost 9 centuries. Works that may be irreparably damaged. There is a feeling of great loss for those who have experienced the awe of Notre-Dame Cathedral in all its previous beauty and for those who will never have the opportunity. May skilled hands and minds be privileged enough to save all that remains
