Meet Danielle Mannino! Danielle was born and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey, and moved to Pennsylvania at age of 16. After a couple years of moving Danielle has found her permanent home in Forest City. She fell in love with the small-town life of Forest City, as well as her job at Forest City Nursing & Rehab Center. She currently works as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She is pursuing a nursing career and will be starting nursing school in December. In her spare time Danielle ...enjoys spending time with her friends, binge watching Greys Anatomy, going on quad rides, and enjoying the outdoors. She also enjoys cooking and learning new recipes. If you were to ask any of her friends or coworkers what her best quality is they would say her humor. She likes to make any situation a positive one! Thank you Danielle for all the excellent care you give to the residents! You will be a great nurse! See more

Black cats have long served as objects of superstition. In Medieval France and Spain, black cats were considered bringers of bad luck and curses to any human they came near, and were associated with witchcraft. Many Medieval Germans believed themselves to be cursed if a black cat crossed their path from left to right. Black cats, however, have also served as symbols of good luck in numerous cultures. In the British Islands, black cats are often believed to bring affluence to ...any house they occupied. In Japan, they are also considered to bring good luck. In Ancient Egypt, black cats were worshipped as sacred. How did black cats come to represent bad luck and spookiness in the United States? It all started with the Pilgrims in the Plymouth colony. The Puritan Pilgrims distrusted anything associated with witches and sorcery, including black cats. They actively persecuted black cats it became a practice to burn black cats on Shrove Tuesday to protect the home from fire. After the anti-witch zeal had subsided in the colonies, black cats had been thoroughly cemented in popular legend right alongside witches. Decorators use them as a Halloween symbol, both alongside witches and independently, to add a frightful, unnerving ambience to their front steps, their green eyes spooking trick-or-treaters. Did you know..? Pierogi have been made in Poland since the 13th century. The word pierogi first appeared in Polish literature in the second half of the 17th century and was prepared only for holidays such as Christmas and Easter. Ted Twardzik Sr. founded Mrs. T’s Pierogies October 8, 1952, producing the first samples for a local grocery store. Mrs. T’s remains the largest producer of (frozen) pierogi in the U.S. (although I am positive that the commercial versions are ...not the same as Grandma’s) Pierogi became a popular food for athletes when Paula Newby-Fraser claimed them as her food of choice in the 1980’s while preparing for the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon. Many athletes began using pierogi as an alternative to boost their carbohydrate intake. There really is a Mrs. T Ted’s Mother, Mary Twardzik. According to Mrs. T’s, there is a geographical region dubbed the Pierogi Pocket which makes up approximately 68% of pierogi consumption in the U.S. This pocket includes New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Chicago, Detroit, parts of the northern Midwest and southern New England.
