We at the TC have some very exciting newswe recently hired one of our most loved and longtime volunteers, Danielle Pearson!! Danielle brings years of experie...nce in youth programming and development. She has been added as a part-time coordinator for the TC. In her new role she will continue to oversee the Youth Action Board, but not as a volunteer, rather as an employee of For the Cause. And in addition, she is excited to create diverse and inclusive programming. Danielle is a very strong advocate for youth and we are exited she officially joined our cause Don’t forget to checkout our weekly programmingSewing is back this Monday from 5:30-7 and crochet will be holding its official first class on Tuesday from 5-7, taught by one of our very own members. ATTENTION FELLOW BERWICKIANS: Today, Sunday 4/25, the Teen Center will be partnering with ThinkBIG Pediatric Cancer Fund to host their annual Cause-a-Thon. Thi...s event raises money for families with children suffering from pediatric cancer. From any time between 1-7 pm, phone lines will be open at the center to call and donate. Please call either (570)-483-8336 or (570)-854-5580. A donation can be sent through by mail (cash/check), or through a debit card. Regardless of the method of payment, please call throughout the telethon to let us know your info as well as the amount being donated!!! For those of you who live afar, ThinkBig has promised that anyone donating $10 or more from the farthest location will add $200 to our grand donation total. So, let’s go California/Alaska/Washington friends!!! We will be keeping track of our donation total throughout the day! Updates will be given through the Berwick Teen Center Facebook (LIVE) or Instagram (LIVE). Performances will be given on these lives at the start of every hour. Groups performing include: Berwick Swing Choir, Berwick Jazz Band, and many more; pic of event schedule attached. Earth Day may have looked a little different this year than in year's past, but that shouldn't stop us all from taking some action and getting out there to celebrate! Today and everyday is a great day to remember COVID precautions, but also to put some work in taking care of our planet. Today, because of the generosity of a Secret Santa and tireless work from volunteers, we were able to give away roughly 100 bicycles to Berwick Elementary school age kids. The giving spirit of this community has helped make this Christmas a very special one for dozens of kids. For The Cause was contacted by some Secret Santas to help make the holidays extra special for Berwick Elementary students in need. The Santas are giving the gift of bikes & helmets! For over a decade For The Cause has been holding two popular running events during the month of November, Run For The Cause and the Speedo Run. These events have attracted thousands of participants throughout the years and raised much needed funds for local non-profits including the Teen Center, The Weekend Food Program and many more. This year due to the COVID-19 pandemic For The Cause has decided that for the safety of everyone involved we will not hold these events in 2020. Out of 350 nominees, Teresa was selected by PPL as one of the Top 10 Bright Lights. In honor of PPL Electric Utilities’ 100th anniversary, they are recognizing nonprofit workers who are transforming their communities through the work they do to improve education outcomes and make our communities vibrant... and sustainable. Ten Bright Lights grants of $10,000 are being awarded to nonprofit agencies to help illuminate the outstanding contributions of individuals working to create a better world. What a better way to wish our Teen Center Executive Director, Teresa Peters, a very happy birthday AND to congratulate her on being selected as a Top 25 BrightLights nominee through the PPL Corporation!!! We wish Teresa a year of good health and happiness and wish her best of luck in October when they select the 10 finalists for the BrightLights Awards! The Youth Action Board (the teens who lead the Teen Center) are hosting a yard sale this Saturday, August 8th from 8-1 at the Teen Center, which is located at 1130 6th Ave. (between Dickson St. and Warren St.) And, while you are shopping, you can send your children to the soda ring toss game for a chance to win a bottle of Big Bens popular soda. ~All proceeds benefit local youth~... We are happy to announce our efforts will continue to supply food for the students of Berwick Area School District with the support of the Teen Center. The food giveaways will take place every Monday (except Monday, June 29th) between noon to 1pm at West Berwick Elementary School!

We won't say goodbye, we’ll just say, until we meet again! These three represent longevity, pioneering and resilience. Our three seniors will embark on a new chapter in their book of life, having dedicated time, talent, tears and trust to not only the teens of the center, but to our community as a whole!! They will leave an immense impact on their peers as we hope the Teen Center leaves a never-ending influence on their lives. Mia Cunningham, our newest Board Member, pi...oneering the connection between two schools. Mia is our Central Columbia School District representative and in a very short amount of time intertwined two adjacent schools, working together for a common cause, for a specific cause, For.The.Cause. We will always be grateful for Mia’s determination and never giving up to make sure we expanded our service territory! We wish you all the best at Villanova University !! Gage Traugh, our Youth Action Board (YAB) Board President, has the resilience to fight through adversity and overcome challenges. Gage stepped up from his current position of Vice-President to President when the vacancy took place abruptly during the middle of the school year. Without hesitation, Gage made it his mission to make sure the Teen Center excelled at every opportunity it was granted. We will be left with Gage’s spirit shining through on all our programs, knowing he would want the best no matter what! We wish you nothing but happiness and success at Penn State !! Oliver Brown, holds the longest held board position on YAB and his longevity will be unmatched! Oliver was apart of the Teen Center before inception as he took part in several focus groups that ultimately lead to the creation of the Teen Center. Fun fact, Oliver has been with us longer than our Executive Director, Teresa Peters!! Oliver’s genius knowledge was utilized when policies and procedures were created, as his vision provided crucial when we were working with a blank canvas. I hope Oliver walks away realizing exactly how much he was apart of history in the making! We wish Oliver a future so bright at DeSales University !!

Additional updates for the students of Berwick Area School District!!

Attention Berwick Borough Area School District Students! All students will be provided free breakfast and lunches from 10:30AM - 12:30PM at all school buildings throughout the school district. Students MUST be present to pick up the meals AND they are able to go to the closest school building nearest to their homes.

In light of everything going on, the Teen Center is closed for the next two weeks. We must make the health and safety of our teens and volunteers the highest priority. Please follow the Teen Center Facebook Page for updates. Stay safe!

The Teen Center is looking for someone interested in teaching piano to our teens at the Teen Center! Do you or someone you know, know the fine art of playing the piano and willing to spend one (1) hour a week at the center? If interested, please contact the Teen Center Director, Teresa Peters. #DidYouKnow During the 2018-2019 school year, our weekend food initiative for local students accounted for nearly 1/4 of all food distributed by the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in Columbia County? This does not include the food we provide every day at the Teen Center. Last year more than 1,000 children relied on us for food. Your contribution of just $10 is enough to feed one of our kids every weekend for the entire school year.
