French Creek State Park 27.05.2021

Hello Everyone! We will be hosting two more vernal pool walks in April. Tomorrow, April 16th and Wednesday, April 21st. These programs are great for all ages. Learn how to identify the different species within the pool, including the recently hatched wood frogs and the yellow spotted salamander. These are seasonal pools and will not be around all summer. Stay tuned for more vernal pool walks and other events. Sign up on DCNR Calendar of events for all programs!

Calling all volunteers! Some of you may remember enjoying the sunshine, cold water, and scenery at the Six Penny day use area. We are asking for some volunteers to help restore some of the area. Some of the old structures are riddled with invasive's and other vegetation. We will need some extra hands to clear the vegetation and also carry out old pipes and debris left behind. This event will occur on May 1st, at 9am. You must sign up here: https://events.dcnr.pa.gov/event/six..._penny_cleanup We will meet at the playground parking lot behind the park office. Then caravan with your vehicle to the work site. (There will be parking at the site.) Work gloves and masks must be brought and we strongly encourage bringing your own tools, but we can provide some if needed. ****Also wanted**** Pictures of the old day use area such as the structures, the swimming hole, or pictures of the area would be much appreciated!

We had a wonderful time this morning checking out the parks vernal pools, looking for salamanders, and having a refreshing morning outside. Make sure to explore the vernal pools before they are dried up for the season. Keep a look out for other events happening at the park this summer!
