Friends of the Horsham Library

The Mothers' Day plant sale hosted by the Friends of the Horsham Library has returned for 2021! The gorgeous plants will be provided by Horsham's own Kohler Farms. We open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 8. Masks required, but you'll have no trouble seeing our smiles of welcome.

BOOK LOOK The Art of Writing a Successful Series if that is not already a how-to book for aspiring authors, it should be. It takes real skill to carry characters forward in time while inserting easter eggs of past information that enlighten new readers without annoying those who have read all the prior books. Jacqueline Winspear is a master of the series novels. The first book is Maisie Dobbs, published in 2003. Her latest in the collection is The Consequences of Fear, ...number 16. Maisie is a very young woman during World War I, yet she serves as a nurse in France. Each book moves forward in time as the heroine uses her medical training to become both a private detective and also an investigator for the British government. This latest installment sets Maisie in the London of 1941. Germany is bombing the city almost every night, and the police are using young boys as runners to deliver messages. Then one of the boys witnesses a crime and turns to Maisie for help. The Wall Street Journal says, this is a series that seems to get better with every entry. I agree. See more
