Friends of Worlds End State Park

If you're thinking of visiting the park this weekend please keep in mind that many of the Bureau of Forestry roads in Loyalsock State Forest around the park are still closed to vehicular traffic. Of course the park is still accessible via Worlds End Road and Route 154 but you will not be able to drive to popular roadside attractions like High Knob Vista, Mineral Spring Falls, Dry Run Falls, or Worlds End Vista.

Happy World Wildlife Day, a day to celebrate and raise awareness of the world's wild fauna and flora! Have you come across a wild animal while visiting Worlds End? If so, share a picture of what you've found! I'll go first with this Northern Ring-necked Snake. Worlds End is home to quite a number of these small, harmless snakes which only grow to be slightly larger then a number two pencil.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful but what's inside our latest newsletter is delightful!

Good morning everyone, just a quick reminder that for the next three Sunday's big game hunting will be allowed in those area's of Worlds End State Park and Loyalsock State Park that are open to hunting. Area's of the park that are open to hunting include sections of the Bridle Trail, Canyon Vista Trail, East Branch Trail, Loyalsock Trail, Worlds End Trail, Double Run Trail, Butternut Trail, as well as other areas. To see what all areas are open to hunting please refer to the ...Worlds End State Park map which can be found on the DCNR website at http://www.docs.dcnr.pa.gov//docu/document/dcnr_002958.pdf . If you are out enjoying the park please respect other user's of the park and it is recommend that you wear an article of blaze orange clothing such as a hat or safety vest. User's bringing their pets to the park must have their pets leashed at all times while out hiking and are recommended to have a blaze orange safety vest for them.

Deep-green foliage is the norm for the state currently, but many areas are showing signs of the season. Recent frosts and cool nights are pushing development of... color, as species noted to change early are beginning to reveal. Black gums, birches, and maples are sprinkling reds and yellows throughout Penn’s Woods. Drought conditions throughout a significant portion of the state could shorten what is expected to be a vibrant peak season.
