I am hosting a free paper shredding event on Saturday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to noon, (or until the truck is full) at Oak Ridge Elementary School, 465 Moyer Road i...n Harleysville. The event, which will feature an on-site industrial paper shredder from Wiggins Shredding, will provide the opportunity for households to shred up to two packing boxes of materials. Cardboard boxes and plastic bags will be returned; paper bags can be shredded along with the other material. This is a great opportunity for residents to get rid of large amounts of unwanted documents containing personal information that could be used to steal their identity or cause other harm. Residents will not even need to get out of their vehicle; simply pull up and we will take care of the rest. The event will be held rain or shine. Any questions, please contact the office at 610-323-3299 in Gilbertsville or 215-256-6030 in Harleysville.

So we know we are getting more snow. While I have heard 6-8 inches total, like any storm, I'll believe it when it shows up. But since Dallas Texas got snow, who knows anymore! Bundle up, stay warm, check on your elderly neighbors and family and if you have a fire hydrant near your house, please clear at least 3 feet around it.

We are saddened to inform you that we must cancel this year’s Franconia Fall Fest. Governor Wolf has outlined the protocols for transitioning from the Stay at ...Home Order to re-institution of Park and Recreation Activities. In the Large Gatherings/Fairs/Concerts section there will be no gatherings of more than 100 people until all restrictions/limitations are phased out. This means that even if Montgomery County is in a Green condition, only gatherings of less than 100 people are permitted. With this standard, the current rate of pandemic spread, the strong likelihood of a second wave in the fall and the overall uncertainty of our social conditions in October, we believe it is prudent to cancel the Fall Fest for 2020. In all good conscience and with respect to our community, vendors & stakeholders, we will now focus on making the 2021 Fall Fest an amazing event.
