This sweet, chunky baby is my middle guy. He is brimming with personality, full of sensitivity and is so perceptive it takes my breath away. And for the first 8 months of his life, he never slept for longer than 40 minutes at a time. . And the thing that breaks my heart is that I thought there was something wrong with us-him as a baby and me as his mama. I thought that I broke him. But really all along, it was just 2 people, new at their jobs, doing the very best they could.... It wasn’t a reflection of him as a baby or me as a mom. . He never slept AND he was a good baby. I couldn’t get him to sleep AND I was a good mom. . We made it through. We both sleep through the night now. Deciding whether or not you want an epidural can feel really stressful. If you already know what’s best for you that’s awesome! But many people are undecided headed into their births-and that’s okay. . Here’s my advice: . Talk to your provider and take a non-judgmental birth class to get all of your questions answered. ... . Consider whether talking to friends and family about it will feel helpful or stressful, and proceed accordingly. . Tune out the noise and really focus on what YOU want, without fear of judgment and opinions. . Trust that you’ll know. If you head into your birth undecided, trust that you will know if you are coping and if you are not. (It’s okay to change your mind based on this, too.) Ask yourself, Can I do this a little bit Ionger? What does my body need right now? And trust that whatever comes up for you is exactly what should be. . You’re pretty awesome.
