Mark it on your calendars for the 11th Annual Great Gettysburg National 19th Century Base Ball Festival July 18-19, 2020!
In the 19th century, game balls were awarded to the winning clubs as a trophy of their victory. At the Gettysburg Festival, teams compete for silver coins and game balls are collected by the festival. As a result, very few teams walk away with the coveted game ball. Today, Tom "Schoolboy" Duffy of the Elkton Eclipse received a game ball from the festival in recognition and gratitude for his tireless commitment to the festival. Well done, sir!

Things kick off at 6pm on Friday with a Kids Clinic followed by a match between the hometown Gettysburg Generals Base Ball Club and the local Little League coaches. Starting Saturday at 8:30am, we will begin the first of 48 matches scheduled for the weekend. 24 teams from across the country will play with the equipment, and by the rules and customs of 1863. All of this happens at the Schroeder Farm, 965 Pumping Station Road in Gettysburg. As always, this family friendly event is 100% free.
Calling all free agents! If you are an experienced 19th century base ball player and your club is not one of the 24 clubs playing in this year's event, there is still room for you. Come in your uniform and hang out at the main tent. Clubs will always be looking for extra players and you'll get your chance to talk to the individual clubs and see if you can get on their team for a game or two...or 3 or 4!
