Monday, February 1st, registration will open at 9:00 AM! Some details: * Registration opens at 9:00-am EST on 02/01/2021,and closes when each distance is full or at 11:59-pm on 04/15/2021 (whichever comes first).... * Race Cost Race fees are 30k: $80, 50k: $90, 50-mile: $100, Relay: $275/team. * Refund of race fee provided through 02/29/2021. No refunds after 03/01/2021. One year deferral available through 04/14/2021. * Race shirts not guaranteed for registrations received after 04/15/2021. Shirts are Unisex (Suggest females order 1 size down), size options include Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large & Extra Large * Registration caps 30k: 80 runners, 50k: 75 runners, and 50-mile: 75 runners. Relay teams, 5 runners/team: 10 teams. Currently we have about 25 slots available for the 30k and 50k, about 35 for the 50m, and 7 team openings. * Start Times - 50-mile & relay 6:00-am , 50k 7:00-am, 30k 8:00-am * A covid plan is being made to ensure safety for everyone. Attention all waitlisters from 2020. You need to act fast if you want to use that to run the 2021 race. 50 milers - this expires tonight. 30k and 50k - you have to Tuesday midnight. But jump on it soon! ... Once these registrations happen, we will then look over the list of registrations, and the caps we have set for each race, and then the plan is to open registration in general on Feb. 1st. So if you're already in (deferred from 2020, or joined from the waitlist) then great! You'll be racing in May. If not, please follow the announcements that we will be making. Attention: 2020 waitlist folks check your e-mail (and spam folder) concerning the 2021 event! We will be accepting a litmited number of runners from the waitlist (for each event). Basic text of the email: "As the Glacier Ridge Trail Ultramarathons and Trail Race (GRT) committee starts to consider race options in 2021, we need to consider runners from the 2020 waitlist. You are receiving this e-mail since you held a waitlist position for our 2020 event that was postponed unti...l 2021. We hope to hold the 2021 race on Saturday May 15, 2021. You will receive an e-mail on Tuesday 01/05/2021 that will provide you with an opportunity to register for the 2021 event. Runners not providing a response within the time identified on the waitlist registration invitation (it will be a few days) will be dropped from the waitlist as we need to finalize our current 2021 runner counts before we consider opening for general registration. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 conditions throughout this winter and the spring of 2021 and let you know if any changes are required to our 2021 event plans. We appreciate your patience."

Glacier Ridge Trail Ultramarathon & Trail Race will not be held in 2020. This presents Glacier Ridge Trail Ultramarathons and Trail Race (GRT) committee’s final 2020 race update. The GRT race committee has met and discussed the conditions under which the GRT could be held this year to provide safe conditions for our participants, volunteers and crew/support. We have also discussed COVID-19 safety measures with Pennsylvania DCNR and others at length and have come to the unfo...rtunate decision that given the ever changing COVID-19 concerns, the GRT cannot be held safely in 2020. While we are saddened by this decision, we acknowledge that safety is the top priority that takes precedence over any other considerations. We could not tolerate even one COVID-19 infection resulting from our event. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 conditions throughout this fall and winter to assess when the GRT 2021 event would be possible. We have currently closed the race registration and refunds through RunSignUp. This e-mail includes a choice to Defer Registration into our 2021 event or Receive a Full Race Fee Refund (minus RunSignUp fees). We ask that your response be provided by July 31, 2020; after which we will process all refund requests. Our waitlist will be maintained and those on the waitlist will be provided the initial opportunity for new registrations for the 2021 event. Here Are Your Options: 1) Stay in race (for 2021) We will transfer your registration to the new event date once it is set, and look forward to having you join us. Thanks for your patience! 2) Get a refund: You will receive a full refund less Run SignUp fees within 30-days. Registered runners will have an email with links to each option.

Who wants to race? We do!!! Yes, it's on. On May 15th, 2021, the year we race again. We hope! Now, anything can happen, as you know. But we don't want to think about that, now do we? So let's all pray to the running gods that we're clear to hit the trails - safely. ... More details to come on whether we'll have Covid restrictions, and right now that's probably the case to some extent. So start training! (Or not - your call.) And hope to see all of you in May!

The Glacier Ridge Trail Ultramarathons and Trail Race (GRT) committee would like to provide an additional update. We had hoped that we would have been able to issue a definitive announcement before our self imposed deadline of April 24, 2020. However, the status and schedule for the Pennsylvania State Parks are still unknown. We would like to ask for your patience to allow things to become defined over the next few weeks. We hope to reschedule the GRT in the mid September... range, if allowed by the park but a definitive date can not be selected at this time. To provide our participants with additional flexibility, we will re-open our full race refund period on May 1, 2020 , it needs to be closed for a short period of time to allow for additional funds to be transferred into the RunSignUp refund account. Once re-opened, full race fee refunds (minus RunSignUp fees) will be available through June 30, 2020 (at a minimum). We will provide additional updates as we have information. We will provide all participants plenty of time to make their decision to participate in the event and we will extend the full refund schedule as needed. We hope to put on the GRT event in 2020 and hope to see you all happy and healthy this fall.

The Glacier Ridge Trail Ultramarathons and Trail Race (GRT) committee would like to provide our friends, loyal runners, and supporters with an update. At this point, we feel the right decision is to postpone the 2020 GRT. We are in touch with representatives from the PADCNR and will be soliciting input from many other sources as to when the 2020 GRT could be rescheduled. We will be keeping everyone updated over the next few weeks as to when the event will be rescheduled or... the cancellation of the 2020 event, if necessary. At this time, those participants who wish to withdraw their registration (or waitlist position) can do so through RunSignUp. We have extended the full refund withdrawal date until April 24th. We will provide a race update prior to April 24th. Runners can withdraw from the event and receive a full refund minus any fees charged by RunSignUp. The GRT is not retaining any fees from withdrawn runners. If we are unable to reschedule for 2020, runners will have the option of a refund (less fees) or to roll over their registration to 2021. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to implement precautions but to get outside, enjoy some early spring weather, and try to put some joy into your day. These are stressful times and in addition to our own worries there are many people being heavily affected. Greet people with a smile, say hello, and give wishes for good health. We should all strive to be a bright spot in someone’s daywe can all use that.

GRT 2020 Race Status: (as of March 17, 2020) At this point we are evaluating and watching as events unfold with respect to COVID-19 - and we are examining our options. Running the GRT? Love chili? Then come run and eat on Saturday, Feb. 8th, at the Winterfest at Moraine. Meet at 11:00 AM, run starts at 11:15. The plan is to go out and back to Mt. Union, so roughly 8.8 miles along the first section of the GRT race. The pace will be comfortable - and runners can go shorter (or longer). We'll meet at the boat launch, where the GRT race starts. Best part? Winterfest has a chili cook-off! So plan to stay after for some eats.
