FIRE ALARM RECALL The recalled units are Kidde Model Series 2040, 2050, 2060 and 2070. Only alarms with the TruSense logo of "AMBER=FAULT" printed on the front of the alarm are included in the recall. The model numbers are printed on the back of the alarms.

There are 203 volunteer fire companies in Allegheny County and the... challenge of keeping these companies fully staffed, well trained and ready to respond at a moment’s notice is one that nearly every fire company in the region addresses on a regular basis. Tonight the GFD once again trained with members of the Pitcairn Hose Company #1. The PFD went toe to toe with the GFD in one of the cardio tests Glassport commonly uses to build confidence in their gear. The PFD came in a close second. Members then moved onto exterior firefighting and exposure control, as part of the job is not only fighting the fire directly but protecting property around it. It was a great night for the younger members and we hope to have more like this is the near future.

Caring4KatieRae: Please join us in lifting the Snyir family in prayers, love and support. Tom and Heather are the parents of three beautiful children, Katie (1...6), Jake (13), and Daisy (6). Last month Katie started having headaches and double vision. At this time she received an MRI. The MRI images created concern and a brain biopsy was then encouraged. On October 23rd, Katie received the biopsy and ten days later the results came back, they got the news that no parents or family wants to receive, Katie was diagnosed with aggressive stage IV Glioblastoma Multiforme cancer. (GBM) Originally it was communicated that there were no treatments available. Thankfully, they have an amazing team of doctors in both VA and PA, coupled with a multitude of people praying for them. Quickly a plan was formed to use radiation as a means to shrink the tumor clusters so she is able to stop taking daily steroids. We are all prayerful that this treatment will be a success and begin to dissolve the tumors. At the age of 5, Katie was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia. Her cancer at the time was put into remission by a bone marrow transplant from her perfectly matched little brother. Before the transplant, as a means to slow the cancer, she received full body radiation. The doctors suspect that the radiation they used to save her life is now the culprit in the new diagnosis. Yesterday Katie was fitted for her face shield. This is required to protect her and allow very focused brain radiation from her ears to the back of her head. This treatment will be M-F for the next six weeks. The Snyir family is now facing multiple obstacles: travel to and from the hospital, missed work, on-going medical bills, and treatments. The Glassport Fire department responded to a working basement fire in Clairton alongside 123, 139, 232 and 180. Crews made short work of the fire with no injuries.

We just got word from the North Pole that Santa will be making a trip to Glassport on Sunday the 20th! We will be escorting him around town on the firetrucks!
